Sorry what? There was no link up play whatsoever between any partnership we had up top tonight. The ball did not stick and we were creatively extremely lacking, we created virtually nothing against a team battling relegation AGAIN. **** game, **** performance, **** players, **** team, **** **** **** :nope:

Yes, don't get all the ,he was our best player bollox, no one was our best player tonight, but Fred has had a chance to stake a claim in the past two games and failed. A good goal on Saturday and a decent free kick tonight but that's all, too many people feeding off his past glory. Tomlin did more in the time he was on than Fred has done this season, and the link play was so much better with Corr and Tomlin on the pitch. I'm desperate for Fred to produce but I'm afraid it in happening.

'That's all' because that's all you are looking for and/or cared to notice. if you looked at the whole game and how Freddy fit into it you would have realised that he was involved in every forward positive movement. Your post is a prime example of how some fans see Eastwood these days.
Watching that game, I would put Eastwood's 60 minutes contribution above Hurst, Moshni, Reeves and Assombalonga. He offered more than all of them going forward, so no he did not deserve to be subbed. Taking him off then pushing Moshni forward was a joke.

really disagree and im basing it on today only hes been poor some times but not today twice put brit through with good balls looked tricky but people wernt playing it to his feet and the free kick fred and either corr/tomlin for me.

Bentley 6 Ok

Clohessy 7 Played well all thing
s considered

Mohsni 5 Wish he had never stepped near the club

Cresswell 5 Out of form and one eye on Wembley

Straker 3- rest of the team know he is a liabilty. Part of the reason we lose.

Hurst 6 - ok

Laird 6 - ok

Mkandawire 6 - ok

Reeves 4 - an astute manager would have subbed him and not Eastwood. We were chasing the game for Gods sake.

Eastwood 7.5 MOM and should never have been subbed. A proper footballer. Held the ball well and his extra weight has helped this. Was in the zone when he was taken off. Why oh why put on two strikers for two strikers. Reeves and Straker should have come off, playing three across the back - since thats what we had for a lot of the night.

Assombalonga 6 - Tried but should have found the net.

Subs:

Tomlin 6

Corr 5

How has he failed. He scored one in two and came closest tonight to scoring. Although we know scoring is not a prerequisite for first team football as Britt "two goals in seventeen" Asombolonga can testify. All that matters is your face fits.

Freddie was MOM. Held the ball up well. Good intelligent passes and always a threat. He is carrying more weight now and that makes him harder to knock off the ball, and tougher in the tackle. Looks to be getting back to his best and this is the only positive to take out of the game tonight. Fred is a credit to the team, the most watchable player on the pitch, and where the future of the club lies. Get a manager in for next year who will build an attacking line up around him, then we will get promotion.

Positives from tonight - difficult to find many. Regardless of anyone's thoughts, we did at least create some chances tonight; Britt was through and shot over in the first half and then headed over from 3 yards out. Cresswell had a header drop just wide. In the second half, Freddy had a great free kick, Britt again missed the target, Tomlin forced a decent save from their keeper. On another day we could have had 3 or 4 goals, which is unbelievable considering the dross that was served up as a performance. I suppose we could have lost by more and would have done had their stupid player standing offside on the goal line touched a ball that was going in anyway. Hilarious.

It was difficult to find a Man of the Match. I wouldn't have taken Eastwood off but that's not because he was our best player; it's because he was better than Assombalonga. Anyone who thought Freddy was good tonight is sadly living in the past... he just wasn't as bad as others.

Least said about the game the better I think.

Ratings -

Bentley - 6 - Poor kicking. At least he's stopping Smith getting the blame. Did very little.

Clohessy - 5 - Not a captain, please PS change it. Gather he wasn't fully fit and it showed.
Straker - 4 - Had an appalling first 30 minutes when he made several unforced and individual errors but then settled into his normal, average level.
Mohsni - 4 - Some of his touches are first class and some of his errors are junior school. His individual errors have cost us points against Nothampton, Rotherham, Wimbledon and tonight. Far too many mistakes.
Cresswell - 5 - An absolute shadow of the player he was in the first half of the season.

Hurst - 4 - Awful, awful, awful, but still put over 3 or 4 absolutely top drawer crosses. He is getting worse each game.
Laird - 6 - Average and did less wrong than others.
Mkandawire - 5 - It has taken us just 3 days to drag him down to our level.
Reeves - 3 - The worst player on show tonight and he's better than that.

Eastwood - 6 - Showed some fab touches but he's a striker that doesn't score much or have many chances. Good free kick, that's about it. Did less wrong than others.
Assombaloma - 4 - What has happened to him? Looks so low on confidence. Maybe needs a rest?

Subs -

Corr - 6 - Was given precious little service
Tomlin - 6 - Good movement and had a great shot tipped around the post.

I can't really elaborate more, I'm too shell shocked. Sturrock should stay in my opinion and sort this lot out!

This has put a real downer on Wembley now for me. Having spent nealy £300 on tickets for family members and was hoping for the occasion to be the icing on the cake of a very succsessfull season, but now I dont even feel in the mood to blow up a balloon least of all sing my heart out for this lot.

Agree with this, Smith would have been slaughtered by some on here for being beaten at his near post for the 2nd goal. BUT he is not to blame for the shambles, IMO something bad is happening behind the scenes, as per normal with SUFC.

Said it elsewhere, we weren't very good, but I thought Plymouth deserved some credit for being organised, closing down and defending well, and taking their chances on the counter attack or breaks. That all contributed to making us look worse than we were.

Something fbm said, which I totally agree with, Clohessy is NOT a captain. He offers no leadership on the pitch, should be Cressy, imo, while Barks, Phillips and Harris are unavailable.

Bentley - 5, didn't think his kicking was too bad, but it wasn't great and I definitely felt he should have done better with the 2nd goal
Clohessy - 4, been under par for a while. As Leonard was brought in as RB cover, let's give him a game there, give Sean a chance to sort out whatever is ailing him
Cresswell - 5, didn't look match fit to me, didn't connect with Mohsni at all, still the pick of the defence though
Mohsni - 3, he's said on FB the penalty was his fault. So was the offside goal. He barely put a pass together all night
Straker - 4, didn't think he was too bad to begin with but crowd soon got on his back and he went to pieces after. I don't think we should be playing two attacking wing backs
Hurst - 4, back in front of Clohessy, linked a bit early on with Fred and the two CMs but another who felt the wrath of the crowd, certainly in the west. Were Plymouth THAT good that they stifled our most creative attacking force totally?
Laird - 6, tried hard, never gave up and put in some challenges. One player NOT thinking about Wembley...and it showed
Mkandawire - 6, good enough, dropped back into defence to allow Mohsni forward (which I 100% disagreed with) and Cressy seemed happier alongside him. Tweaked his groin midway through the 2nd half and was in discomfort - don't be surprised if he's not playing Saturday
Reeves - 3, just not at the races at all, didn't look the same player, passing was way off
Eastwood - 7, MOTM by a distance amongst the starters. Challenged, fought and passed pretty well. Hoped we'd see him alongside Corr for a while as I reckon they'd work well, especially with reeves just in behind them. Thought he'd scored with that free kick
Assombalonga - 5, too lightweight, odd flashes of ill judged confidence

Subs:
Corr for Freddy - 6, his height did make a bit of difference, should have come on earlier, for Britt
Tomlin for Assombalonga - 7, glad he's looking so sharp, we're going to need some creativity from him here on in

Officials:
Pretty good on the whole, though 2nd game in a row we've had a nailed on pen barely register.

Got to say I felt Sturrock got things wrong, and it's not often you'll hear me criticise the manager.

Personally I think that Martin and Sturrock had a meeting (that was well documented on here) and he was told that he can manage the team and take them out at Wembley, but will leave after that.

Wouldn't be surprised if that has happened and demotivated Sturrock a bit.

Really? Got a link to that particular thread?

I seem to remember there was some extrapolation on here from a PS BP interview that going to Wembley would be a great achievement in his last season at the club.
Don't remember any mention or discussion of a meeting between PS and Martin where it was agreed that Ps would be leaving after Wembley.

Have to admit that does look particularly likely now.But I still think you're jumping the gun about that meeting.Doubt if it's happened yet.Soon maybe.
