Great result, and a great hardworking performance. Hurst, Barker and Prosser stood out for me, but don't be fooled if we want to compete in League One we need to improve big time. On another day we could of lost this game 3-0 comfortably. 1 goal from a deflection, and a wonder strike, and Brentford missed a hatful of chances.

Weird thing is though if Corr had not hit the bar then it would of been game over at 3-0. (I am sure that looked over the line though)

Funny how you see it like that. We were a little sloppy at times but apart from the first 10 mins and a little 5 minute flurry before their goal, Brentford never looked like winning, not in a month of Sundays. The superior team won on the night.

Very encouraging performance from us. We never really had a sniff of the ball for the first 15 mins and Brentford were passing and moving the ball very well but lacked any real edge although one chance went begging for them. Then we started to get stuck in mainly sparked by Timlin and Corr (who I thought played well) and once on the ball we looked dangerous and Tam popped up with the goal (a quick change of feet and direction for him) made the goal obviously aided by the deflection. After the goal we visibly grew in confidence and Hurst's goal was a corker. Picking the ball up just outside the box he took one touch looked up and bang top corner. Everything happened in slow motion! Cracking.

Afterwards Brentford started to get back into the game but we held out till HT and looked dangerous when we picked up possession.

2nd Half I was surprised with Brentford as they didn't really get going and Barry was unlucky not to make it 3. Britt drew their keeper out of position and layed a great ball across face of goal but somehow the ball smacked underside of bar and went out. That miss kind of shook Brentford up who started to increasingly put Blues under pressure but some of their shooting was wayward to say the least. Their goal 5 mins from time had a whiff of offside but made for an exciting finish. Great stops from Smith at the end one from a free kick destined for the top corner.

A hard fought cup win. Well done Blues. Attendance just over 3,000 so not bad for a cold Tuesday night.

Lots of sour grapes on Brentford site all the usual stuff we all come out with when we have had a hiding. It was our reserve side glad we got beaten now we can concentrate on the league. same old same old but funny to read.

Were we at the same game??!! I thought Brentford did well in the first 15-20 mins without really hurting us, but then we came into the game, scored against the run of the play - and looked the most dangerous team after that. Lets not forget they are fighting for promotion to the Championship and were bang on form

After Britt was pulled over and got nothing, Rosler made diving actions right in front of us and he got ripped to bits after that, was really funny.

Best moment of the night was Fatso's mate slagging Prosser off for putting a ball over the top for Corr to run onto then when Cresswell hoofed out for a goal kick 2 mins later it was 'unlucky cresswell'....Hilarious

This was an enjoyable game to watch and good passing by both sides. Brentford looked to have little threat in their attack and I wonder if their main threat has been from set pieces? Britt and BBBC looked more likely to cause problems than their front men. Cocko was shouting/coaching for Tam to push forward and he took his chance well with a lucky deflection but he did have a go and deserved the result. Hurst's goal was a real corker and after that the first half ran out of steam. 2nd half continued in same way until Britt worked his speed and channel to beat keeper and lay it on a plate for BBBC who hit underside of bar (and he seemed convinced down and in) but lino waved game on. Bfd then came back into game. Their Hayes goal looked offside but well finished. Smith made good save at the end. Good game, close/tight finish.

Sounds like Smith made another match winning save, useless.

Yes he made 2 very good reaction saves, one from a free kick.

He had one big fumble where he punches from about a foot off the ground. I also think that he could have done much better for their goal, he seemed to be stuck to the spot and there was no movement or attempt to save the shot. So all in all a bit of good and a bit of bad. We won 2-1 so a good team effort.

I'm a Smith fan, but from where I was in East Blacks their goal seemed to go straight through him. That was a poor effort I think, but a good save at the end though.

The amount of possession & movement Brentford showed in the first 15-20 I thought we would do well to get to HT level. But this side is dripping confidence & once we got to grip with their game, you could see we had a great chance of winning this. Tam's goal had that element of luck that teams need to be successful, just worries me that losing him & Britt in Jan is going to hurt. And it has to be said Brentford's finishing was awful.

As for Smith I think there was one in each half where he punched out back to the middle of the box, but for Brentford's woeful finishing that could have been costly.

However I like Smith, & Port Vale's keeper aside Ive not seen better in this league yet.

No blame for the goal, I sit in east yellows and for a start it was offside. The finish was clinical and hard and into the corner, he had no chance. His save low down to his right late on was world class, brilliant reflex save. Apart from one strange save to his right second half he played very well.

Brentfords goal was about 3 yards ONside. A player over by the west (not sure who) was about 5 yards below the rest of our players and played him on.

Good performance from most. Hurst, Timlin and Corr really stood out. Everyone else were good, except maybe Martin who didn't have too much influence.

For the first 15 mins I thought we were going to struggle but after that thought we looked equal to them. Both sides created chances. I have slated Smith at times during the season and he flapped once or twice tonight but that was a quality save from the free kick at the death (stupidly given away by Timlin). Thought Hurst played really well tonight and Britt was a handfull. Usually sit South Lower and was impressed by the noise all night - great tribute to mitchell Cole- well done. UTB P.S. Go with my 10 year old son who asked if I knew who plays the drum - I don't but I am sure someone does?

That would be Scott AKA True Blue

I had to work last night so could not make the game.
I was monitoring our board and theirs. When they went 2-0 down it was all 'Tin Pot Cup' and 'glad we are out' . Lots at that stage saying its better to be out and concentrate on promotion push. Then when they got one back the very same people were like ' come on we can still do this!!' I had to giggle.
