Time for a rest i'm afraid although to be honest he hasn't shown much to date anyway. If his name wasn't Neil Harris then he would struggle to make the bench. Blair looked 3 times the player when he came on but then again his name doesn't fit does it!

Blimey I agree with Wiggy. Time for a lie down in a dark room I think!

Although I Felt we missed JP in the Middle it was oxfords play without the ball which caused us the problems , we gave the ball away a lot just due the presence and persistence and JP may have struggle in there as well.
Some may say lucky, but is it luck if one player plays particularly well ? and today it was Daniels.
Clarke pulled off a great save at the death or it could have been 3-1

As for Timlins miss, it was imho almost the opposite of Dicko's last week where Bil was in space. He had no intention of going for goal, he broke away and ran in order to draw the keeper away from the centre of the goal, that accomplished he looked stunned to find no one had kept up and he couldn't square it , by now had a crap angle and it was on his left foot so he attempted to curl it , too hurridly and fluffed it.

Daniels - 8 - A string of top-drawer saves and came out excellently to close down their striker in 1-on-1 situation. Needs to command his area better - punched thin air at one point when coming for a cross and was very slow to come out and collect when Gilbert was sheperding ball back. But he kept us in the game first half - MoM.

Clohessy - 7 - solid defensive performance and made some threatening runs down the wing. Cut inside to shoot not far wide of the target near the end of the game.

Barker - 7 - solid

Phillips - 8 - very strong, good header far post for goal

Gilbert - 6 - at fault for the Oxford goal and was caught out of position on a few other occasions. Otherwise decent.

Ferdinand - 4 - not good today. Lost count of the number of times he gave the ball away. Felt he should have made way for Grant at half time.

Timlin - 7 - good display, strong and quick in the tackle second half. Reads the game well - needs to practice 1-on-1 with keeper in training!

Hall - 8 - most talented player on the pitch. Superb goal. Crosses exquisite as ever.

Leonard - 6 - Worked hard, decent performance. Needs to work on understanding with Gilbert. Was arguably at fault for Oxford goal - clearly Gilbert thought so.

Harris - 4 - poor today. Looked off the pace.

Dickinson - 5 - worked very hard, but understanding with Harris not great.

Overall, this is the stuff of champions - showed great resilience to get the win despite a mediocre performance. Rode our luck first half.

Shame to see fans fighting through North-East gates at the end of the game.

UTB!

Didn't go today, but again a top result. I've seen us a number of times this season. Macclesfield (a) aside I've not seen us control a game, but still we keep winning. You can't knock that. Well done PS.
Some people aren't playing that well, but lets not get into slagging off individual players when the team is flying.
As I've said previously on these forums, we always look a better side with Kalala sat in front of the back 4, whether or not he plays well himself. Having him there frees up others.

CP has tweeted "Oxford manager Chris Wilder: "The only difference was the referee not giving us what were two blatant penalties"

I don't recall anything to warrant that, does anyone have any ideas what he is on about

No, but you would if you were an Oxford fan. That's the way football works. Don't worry about it.

Lots of 4, 5 ,6 and even a 2

Yet we still beat "a very good side"

Puzzled.

I don`t think we were poor in the first half. Oxford played better than us but we hung on. We defended well in the second half and scored the winner against the run of play. That says it all and now we seem to have the grit to win games when things are not going our way. That is a formula for getting out of this Division.

I agree with Wiggy.... but then I would

Daniels 8 MOM - kept us in it
Gilbert 4 - wow, did he do anything?
Barker 5 - didn't communicate at all until Harris started shouting
Phillips 7 - Lovely goal, solid
Clohessy 6 - subdued but came into it later
Hall 5 - At least we know why he was quiet but WHAT A GOAL!
(The innefectual) Ferdinand 2 - Appalling
Timlin 6 - Tried but couldn't get into it
Leonard 5 - Half tried but well, it didn't happen at all
Harris 4 - gets 2 for trying to gee the players up, otherwise anonymous
Dickinson 4 - tried in the second half, first half jesus christ...

Subs can't really score up cos of time on pitch.

Play that bad and sneak a win, I'll take it but my god, I feel sorry for Oxford tonight. We were gash.

Gilbert wasn't great today but he did make a very good block that deflected the ball out for a corner in the first half. Had he not got to it, it was a dead cert goal.

Manager 8 Tactically sound especially with the Grant substitution.

I do agree and I can't question anything that Luggy has done so far this season as he's been fantastic tactically but IMHO the Grant substitution came around 20 mins later than it should have today as we were being overrun by their midfield. It's no coincidence that when Granty came on Oxford looked less threatening than they had all game.

Who am I to criticise though, Sturrock is edging closer and closer to hero status as the game pass by!

Says something about this team when we don't play at our best and still could easily have scored 2 more (timlin and Leonard post).Definately lost the midfield 1st half ,and it showed in the last 20 mins when Grant came on that the game changed and Oxfords threat went.Against the best team to visit so far this season we still had enough to grind out a result which looks promising.A special mention should go to Hall who from what I hear should not have played(what a strike!!) and goalkeeper Daniels great display. One downer was the home gate which considering our averages a couple of years ago should be higher with the way the team are performing.

Today showed Ferdinand's weakness i.e. Oxford were in his face and totally bossed him - he cannot handle that type of play. Knowing Oxford are a physical side (not dirty) I was surprised Grant wasn't on from the start. I would have like Kalala in the team - I assume he is injured. Ferdinand should not have played today - Oxford are not his type of opposition. As for Harris - we just as well have played with 10 men for all that he was doing - I can't wait for Corr to be fit!!

Kalala had a family bereavement by all accounts.

Oxford had the better of the fist half= but we wewre average (not poor) and Oxford played as if it were their cup final. Daniels made a number of saves- but ones you would expect him to make (no critisism- he inspires confidence and is very solid. Will be/is a good keeper)

At then end of the the difference is taking chances- most of Oxfords efforts were in the middle two thirds of the goal at a good hight for the keeper- Halls effort no keeper anywhere would have got near and he was 25 yards out. Ultimately we have those bits of quality on the pitch that makes the difference and will deliver goals.

We also have that bit of quality in the manager dept.

MOM for me Phillips. If he had a decent fitness record no way would he be playing in L2
