Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 5-0 Solihull Moors

Wow just wow, that performance was the best this season without doubt, the press was incredible, one thing that sticks in my mind was Wes gave the ball away midway in the Solihull half and sprinted a good 20 yards to put pressure on for Noor to take the ball.

Hayes - 8 solid performance from the young man, excellent handling and saves Brooklyns blushes with a quick sprint to stop the ball rolling in, I can help but think David Martin would of struggled to get there in time.

Taylor - 8 fantastic performance again from Harry so strong in the tackle and calm and composed on the ball.

Kensdale - 9 he was excellent today, won everything in the air and was so quick to nip in front of the attackers to get the ball first, little bit concerned with him holding his hamstring as well.

Kabongolo - 8 this lad is massive … he is such a threat from set pieces, he just runs in like a battering ram to get to that ball first, if it wasn’t for the GK he would of netted at least once today.

Scott-Morriss - 8 this lad didn’t stop running up and down the pitch today, incredible work rate, point off for a very silly yellow card.

Bridge - 10 first of a few 10s today this was probably Bridge’s best game this season he was relentless and the Solihull right side just didn’t know what to do, his cross for Kanu’s hatty was impeccable.

Husin - 10 This man has just put in a performance worthy of Chamionship level, he didn’t stop all game won the ball back numerous times and his range of passing today was a joy to watch, and my word what a goal ! My man of the match.

Coker - 9 he had an excellent game in the middle again workrate is just unbelievable, gets about the pitch picking up pockets of space and kept it easy and kept us ticking over

Fonguck - 9 his build up play with Bridge is fantastic, they have such a good understanding, wish he would put his laces through the ball when on the edge

Cardwell - 9 this man should be given a lot of credit for the Kanu goals today, he done the dirty work for Kanu to take the plaudits, he drew 2 defenders away for the Kanu tap ins every time and was constantly on the move to create space.

Kanu - 10 this lad is a goalscorer, he has pace and is very direct, not greedy in the slightest and we are very lucky to have him here for a while, enjoy him while we can I think.

Subs

Vilhete - 7 thought he was very today in possession and Oh my word what a leap the lad has !

Wood - 6 poor from wood today, nothing come off for him when he come on.

Will be scanned in the week I expect. To see if 3 weeks or up to 12 and take it from there.
Wish Jason a speedy recovery, he’s been awesome this season. Continues to fight for the cause despite some saying he was finished, what 3 seasons ago?? Was heartened to see the rest of the team consoling him as he went off too. What a spirit.

The most pleasing thing today was the assists. Let's face it, young Kanu could hardly miss. They were on a plate for him, but he has to find the space in the box in the first place. So he was absolutely superb at slipping away from the defenders. Woods could learn from that. The passing today was superb. The defence was rock solid. Our goalie only had one real save to make, and that was a back pass. We attacked in numbers. The 3 amigo's have got the team playing a really entertaining way. We also made them look bad, by constant pressure on whatever one of their players that had the ball. But obviously they are not as bad as we made them today. Hat's off to everyone today. The players, the 3 Amigo's, the fans, the new owners in waiting.

I've no doubt it's all been said but wow!.....what a performance. I'm sure clubs come to us and think "Oh, they're down around the relegation zone....this will be a breeze" Fourth best goal difference in the league and we should be in fifth spot (were it not for Ronald Rat). I hope this run continues but there will be hiccups and it is important that we keep supporting this wonderful group of players and staff through them. Kev and co are simply magnificent for keeping going and managing to do deals that have always been so positive. Kanu is a natural goal finder, running well off the ball with a natural talent to spot where opportunities will arise and he and Harry will be a dynamite partnership while we have him. Kabongolo gives us, at last, a really huge threat in the box and he had a very good game, helped by the team ethos of easing him in and keeping it all very simple (forget the near own goal!!). Thoroughly deserved a 6300 attendance and it was nice to see Jon Benton generously clapped off at the end. Extra time of eight minutes? - it's our own fault for scoring so many goals and celebrating them. Cannot wait for Tuesday COYB!!
P.S. if you want a good example of high and low, consider.........1) Justin Rees' first home game attendance :Clap:2) Sol Campbell's first home game attendance.:Scared:

Daniel Kanu scored more goals today than our top scorer for the entire 2020/21 season!

I didn’t even think Solihull were that bad today, we were on a different level to them. A fantastic performance.

Think you’re half asleep mate. He said he has 3 for them - as in Charlton - before he joined us. So the original post was spot on that it’s surprising Charlton let him go but their loss is our gain.
He said that there are many good strikers at Charlton, so they need him to get more experience of first team football. So yes. what a result for us.

Well we've got him until Jan but after 28 days can be called back.
Make hay while the Sun shines?
I think so.

Chuks Aneke went off injured for Charlton today, so I do worry he maybe recalled pretty sharpish. Is what it is I suppose. Just have to enjoy and utilise him whilst we can.

When was the last time we scored 5,who scored the last hat trick and I cant remember who ever scored 4 goals in any match.Over to the zone
