Southend United Ladies

Wouldn’t it be ironic though if Billericay was drawn against Billericay Reserves

Lets hope the Ladies can avoid Billericay &Hashtag 1st team)

I think a few teams would fancy beating Billericay first team at moment as there form has dipped massively and they have had a few injuries, slipping down the league at moment.

May be an image of football and text that says ER BBC Essex Women's Cup Quarter-Final Final Draw To be played on or before the 21st January A Billericay Town vs Billericay Town Reserves Hashtag United Reserves vs Chelmsford City Southend United CSC vs Hashtag United Stanway Pegasus vs Bowers & Pitsea ESSEX COUNTY ESSEX

Mmmmmmm was it fixed so certain teams didn’t play each other, my bet is on hashtag first team to win it.

A narrow 2-1 away defeat today against Billericay Town Reserves in the quarter-finals of the BBC Essex Women’s Cup in extremely blustery conditions.

Blues took the lead through Ellie Nicholls in the first half, but conceded an equaliser a few minutes before half-time and went behind shortly after the interval, and just couldn’t find the leveller to force extra time during an end-to-end second half.

Justin Rees was once again in attendance at the game.

After successive defeats in cup competitions (the BBC Essex Women's Cup quarter-final against Billericay Town Reserves and then against Wodson Park in the Eastern Region Women's Football League Plate), followed by picking up just one point from three consecutive away games in ERWFL Division One South, Southend United Ladies returned to winning ways at Garon Park this afternoon.

Blues defeated Lawford Ladies 2-0 with Ellie Nicholls putting Southend in front with eight minutes remaining by beating a couple of defenders and chipping past the goalkeeper, before Emily Pert settled any nerves by doubling the advantage with a slide-rule finish in stoppage time. Although Blues had the better of the first half, and hit the crossbar early in the second period, they rode their luck at times but showed good resilience to keep a clean sheet and prevent their opponents from edging in front after the interval.

For those that want to watch the team, who remain in second place in the league table seven points behind leaders Watford Ladies Development and six ahead of Billericay Town Women Development, in action, they are at home on each of the next two weekends, hosting Hutton on Sunday 3rd March and Hertford Town on 10th March. Both games kick-off at 2:00pm at Garon Park.

Southend United Ladies were defeated 8-4 in an entertaining Eastern Region Women’s Football League Division One South fixture at Garon Park this afternoon. The team remain second in the league table.

Hutton raced into a four-goal lead inside the opening 20 minutes as Blues struggled to deal with the pace and finishing ability of forward Daisy Canny and, despite pulling a goal back, conceded again to trail by four at 5-1.

Two goals late in the first half, the first a superb finish with the outside of her right foot by Emily Pert and a second by Chloe Woolaway when her determined run led to her charging down the goalkeeper’s clearance before nodding home ahead of a defender, reduced the deficit to two at half-time.

The visitors quickly made it 6-3 at the start of the second half before Blues were awarded a penalty. Georgia Wilson struck her spot-kick well, but it was turned against the crossbar and out by the impressive Hutton goalkeeper.

Hutton converted a penalty of their own before Canny scored her fifth of the afternoon, with substitute Cristina Fragnito volleying home from a corner for Southend to contribute a late consolation.
