If we can get enough bodies to put a team out, Maidenhead United will be the visitors to Roots Hall on Tuesday night.

Alan Devonshire’s side seem to be persistently punching above their weight to stay at National League level, but fair play to them as they are clearly a well run club who live within their means and manage to survive. Oh for one day someone to be saying the same about us!

Maidenhead currently occupy 17th place in the division with their 10 points coming from 2 wins and 4 draws meaning they’ve only lost twice so far this season, most recently on Saturday 1-0 at home to Boreham Wood. Their current form is marginally worse than ours:

They are likely to have a couple of familiar faces in their side with Kane Ferdinand, now aged 30, and Ashley Nathaniel-George both starting their last game.

Obviously our woes have been well documented and well debated on many other threads and it does seem like the most pointless poll to post as it is likely we’ll only have 11 fit players to choose from. However we live in hope that either the rat will pay the debts or the league will take pity on us so, more in hope than expectation, I’ve left a few gaps to add some surprise last minute signings.

Anyway, you know what to do!

Obviously hoping the reds might be rescinded and that Ralph will be fit. That's one hell of a lot of hope in one sentence though.

Cav is our defensive midfielder. He'd have to go play at the back out of all our other players.

Ralph had a fitness test on Saturday which shows he was close to playing, so let's hope he can play Tuesday.

Let's see if anything happens with signing the defender that's training with us on a short term deal.

Games have been called off because of illness, surely if we cannot field a team it must be postponed.

Cue Covid outbreak in the team

So is this how the rules work when a club is under embargo in the National League?

Can’t bring in temporary additions to the 16 registered players unless more than 4 are unavailable through injury and then only enough to make 11 +1.

Suspended players count in that 11 + 1 and if two (or more) are suspended and the club cannot fulfil the fixture it gets the sanctions for not fulfilling a fixture? A fine and/or points deduction?

The suspensions can't be served because the club isn’t playing so until injured players recover the club will continue to fail to fulfil fixtures and occur an additional fine and/or points deduction every time?

No that's not my reading of the rules

Did you actually read the rules? You must have missed this bit:

8. Where the number of eligible players falls below 11, or 11 excluding a goalkeeper, due to suspensions, a Club may make application to the Board to sign non-contract player(s) to ensure a team of 11, including a goalkeeper, can be fielded.

As subtle as ever @Mick!

As said earlier, we need Ralph, Lomas ??? and a keeper to cover for Colin....he clearly struggled on Sat

Awaiting Monday news from the club for the official line
