Now that the dust has settled on the disappointing 2-1 defeat to high-flying Cambridge, attention turns to the middle of the three consecutive home games against Mansfield Town.

Although they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Cheltenham a couple of weeks ago, the Stags' league form has been excellent since we drew with them at Field Mill in mid December, winning all 4 games against Scunthorpe, Port Vale, Salford and Oldham. They've also not played since 13th January so will be well rested so we cannot expect Nigel Clough's team to give us an easy ride - far from it.

We've had two tough games since Mansfield last played and there are likely to be some casualties from this - we already know about James Olayinka, and it remains to be seen if we will see him on Saturday or indeed in a blue shirt again. Rumours are that Demi won't be available on Saturday either, and therefore we need to hope that Kyle Taylor will, by the weekend, be fully recovered from COVID.

So, who would you pick to start on Saturday and what do you think the result will be?

4-5-1 for this one - we're going to have to keep it very tight and try and nick something on the break. I would give Demi a rest and play Macca/Dieng/Taylor in the middle if all are fit enough.

Hart and taylor on the wings, interesting.
I have been unconvinced by our full back and wing play. We don't have a target man up front for good crosses and at set pieces the taller lads get forward.
Both full backs benefit from having cover in front and are better at going forward when in tandem with a "partner".
If Tyrell is fit, or ANG, or Walsh, then one of those might be better with Elvis.

Olyinka will be out with ankle ligament damage

Called it.......unfortunately ;

"It was a clumsy foul that put Olayinka out of the game, think the main damage was done when their fella landed heavily on his ankle (looks like ligaments to me and don't think he should have carried on). "

Seems to be a common theme over the last few years, players being led to believe one thing, only to end up on their way days/weeks later.
Yes indeed, and the usual issue of someone being owed money by Ron, he must have a list of creditors as long as Southend Pier.
