Unless I missed reading some recent news about Kightly, he should definitely be fully fit, as he played 96 minutes in our last game against Fleetwood on the 13th January. Add to that he's had a fortnight's rest.

Spot on with Wabo.

He's had more shots on goal than Fortune and he's only been on the pitch 10 minutes!

the kid is certainly not afraid to have a go, I wonder if we'll see any other youngsters getting 1st team action before the season is out. We also have Emile Aquah who scores for fun in the academy side.

Subject to availability and no new injuries then I would go for the following:

Oxley
White Turner Kyprianou Coker
Demetriou Yearwood Timlin McLaughlin
Wabo, Cox

Subs: Robinson, Fortune, Ferdinand, McLashan, Hendrie, Kightly, Bishop

I like the look of that team, given current availability/injuries. What will be really interesting is just how much the interim management tinker with formation and tactics, let alone whether they feel one or two of the younger players that might have been overlooked so far would make it into their team. That was the biggest disappointment with Saturday’s postponement for me.

Have to say that it would surprise me if anyone who went to the Northampton game would want to see Yearwood in a key role - he could barely pass to his own player throughout the entire first half.

Also i thought Kightly had a better game playing in central midfield against Fleetwood. One of the few slight positives!

I think I read on here somewhere that Yearwood got some pretty tough stick from the previous management. I don’t know whether that’s true but if it was I wouldn’t think that helped a great deal. He’s clearly got something and he’s very young, so for me SUFC would be well served by building his confidence, with management and senior players giving him clear guidance and strong support on and off the pitch. The new management team is a chance for a fresh start for some of our squad - let’s hope they take it.

I agree he has bags of promise and I really want him to do well but I can't see him regaining his confidence so soon - hence I wouldn't pitch him in against Scunthorpe.

From what I've seen of Dru, he is far more comfortable trying to make things happen in an attacking sense.

Already he has shown what he can do, running with the ball, and isn't afraid to have a shot. Hence my thinking of him in an attacking midfield role.

I can't recall which home game it was. I think it might have been against Oxford. Just after half-time he picked the ball up around the halfway line and went past about three players, before playing a one-two, but just couldn't get his shot away.

Both he and Wabo seem to be confident of trying something positive, which can only be a good thing, if encouraged.

Love Fortune, but he doesn't have any goals in him and goals is what we need!!

Blimey - makes me realise that our squad is both weak and unbalanced.

Also why did RM authorise allowing Bridge to leave when he must have known that PB was on his way out? I would have started him instead of Yearwood in that formation and told him to support the front two with Timlin playing the holding role.

There was no way Jack Bridge could play football on our beach of a pitch anyway. Completely anti his playing style.

Kightly will play either on the right or in midfield, like to see Hendrie get some confidence back also,
Lightly(!) and Hendrie are both poor and not the answer....need a centre back, right sided midfielder and tall striker in for Saturday.

I expect a couple of the positions will be taken by the Excuse twins. They have been popular transfer targets for years and I am sure we will get to see them again. Reg Ected may line up with them but will be eclipsed by the Chinese youngster Hu Da Fukizhe.

Kightly has to play left wing.

Timlin can cover Kightly.

Coker can cover Timlin.

Simples.

It's down the middle & the right hand side we have an issue with.

No, I disagree, I thought Kightly did just fine in the middle, and McLaughlin is by far and away more effective down the left anyway. However, with the current situation I am quite happy to have Hendrie on the left and Macca on the right if necessary.

The same starting line up as I said for Rochdale - unless Turner is fit in which case I'd have him in alongside John:

Oxley
Demetriou, White, Kyprianou, Coker
McLaughlin, Kightly, Timlin, Hendrie
Cox, Fortune

We all know how our pitch has been this season and given the rain we are having , it doesn’t take much to work out what it will be like on Saturday.
Firstly , although we can’t put our league position just down to the pitch, I think it’s been quite a factor recently and our performances have suffered as a result.
Our Home record is decent , but the likes of Knightly, Wright , Wordsworth etc would I think fare better if things were different.
Anyway , nothing we can do about it , but I’m hopeful that with Scunny having a game tonight , the pitch ‘may’ work in our favour as the game goes on and they tire.
As was mentioned before this is not going to be a classic , but the longer we can stay in it , we may just have a squeak in the last 20-30 mins.
Keep the faith people and let’s get behind the team from the start !

"Our Home record is decent" - One win and three defeats in the last four certainly isn't!
