Pre-Match Thread Southend United v Stockport County

The fact we can now sign people on loan suggests its lifted in all but rubber-stamping.

Though Barry Fry's comments were interesting about Simpson. Saying something like "they have signed him on 1 month loan and when they sort the embargo out, that will be made to 6 months".

Which still suggests to me a 1 month 'emergency' loan is allowed regardless and anything longer has to be completed within the confines of the embargo.

The fact the club confirmed yesterday that Simpson is on a 6 month deal, plus the news that Phillips 'signed' a 2 year deal the day before is pretty conclusive proof that it IS lifted, we are just waiting for it to be official so it can be publicly announced, but the fact is we HAVE registered all our players now... is my take on it!

Yes it's the registration that's the problem, Phillips may have signed a two year deal but has he been registered?

My point is, why change it from a pre-contact which 'he signed 2 weeks ago' to a permanent 2 year deal if it couldnt be registered?

There isnt any point, he would have stayed on a pre-contract surely?

Which is why I believe it has been lifted. For whatever reason they're just making us wait.

Because the embargo is going to be lifted and we don't want these players to walk away somewhere else? Because taking on financial commitments (a pre-contract is not a commitment) whilst the Club's future was in the balance wouldn't have been looked kindly on by either the Courts or HMRC?

I suspect that we could have signed any of these players to contracts at any time in the last three weeks. The embargo merely covers their registration to play in matches.

Whats wrong with, its not been lifted, or it has been lifted,i dont understand why the fans have to jump through hoops, every time we ask for a peice of basic information.

What's wrong with just sitting back and seeing what happens? If the Embargo was lifted yesterday and no one has told us then fair enough, let's moan. I doubt that is the case though and suspect that the Club are working on it right now.

So the information would be, the embargo hasnt yet been lifted and we are working at getting it sorted.

If they said it every day people would still complain and call them liars.

Theres nothing we can do and no point getting worked up about it, the game is tomorrow and if we have to play the tea lady then lets complain then, I dont see the point in this constant stressing.

I'm not sure the tea lady is registered so we couldn't play her ;)

i reckon Stock-pot will come for a battle, but we'll nick it by the odd goal.

after all the problems I feel quite optimistic about this coming season, bring it on.

Digressing; I see Laurent is signing for Coventry! can't see he'll meet the grade in the Championship though...

The Shrimpers were boosted this week by the news they had avoided administration, allowing them to complete full moves for 17 players signed on pre-contract deals.

Embargo lifted it would seem. Quote's from Sky.

Yes, I seem to recall Paul Brush playing in that position in the late '80s. :)

Yep!.........................I thought Brush would make his appearance before too long! Well, whilst all you lucky buggers can go and see the first match of the season tomorrow, I will be stuck working and staving off sunstroke in Bagnères de Luchon. Will scroll through bbc livetext and the OMT when I get back. I hope I can toast my pastis for the first win of the season.
Honestly, I know nuuuuuthing for tomorrow............but there again, I am not much different to anyone else. I'll go for a 1-0 victory....
............fingers and toes crossed.
