A 'yes' would be a most welcome birthday present. That and the Sugababes coming round my house to do a stripogram.

excellent news, hopefully sussex by the sea and draft shrimper can give us some kind of indication for how the project will progress from this stage... i.e. when will i see a digger at fossets farm!

It’s make or break month for Southend United’s £25 million planned new satadium at Fossetts Farm.
The 22,000 seater stadium will be discussed by Southend Council’s Development Control Committee at a special meeting scheduled for 2pm on January 24th 2007.
The meeting will also decide on the clubs proposals for a new supermarket and housing on the existing Roots Hall site, which will help to pay for the new arena.
A day later Rochford District Council’s committee will decide on plans for the car parking and new training ground next to the stadium, in the green belt.
If the plans are agreed then work on the project could begin in April or May 2007.
Sarah Tanburn, Southend Council’s interim director of enterprise, said they had a few “issues”, mostly concerning transport that still needed to be resolved with the club, she said “We hope these will be in place and we are working towards this date to move this important scheme forward as soon as possible”
Town Clerk Rob Tinlin said because the plans for Roots Hall marked a departure from the local development plan, the proposals would have to be referred to the Government Office For Eastern England. He added “There could be a delay if the two plans were called in for a public enquiry, or the Government delays making a decision.
However Ron Martin was confident the plans would go through without any hiccups. He added “As the proposals are not issues of regional or national importance, then I see no reason why the plans should not be rubber stamped”. “If we get planning consents we should be on-site in April or May, I am also pleased that Rochford Council has given it’s support to the principle of the new stadium, and I am hoping for a positive result at their meeting”.

Eh ? You bought yourself a stripogram and you want Sugababes to come round and do him ?

Whatever floats your boat, its your birthday!

Was hoping for an earlier decision but only a month to wait.

For me personally that decision makes or breaks this season. I can take relegation and not winning the league cup (

) if the stadium gets agreed.
Will be a huge downer if it doesnt.

I've got a feeling it won't be decided on this date...

Maybe I should have used the word 'perform' rather than do...

Come on lads and lasses, leave your messages....

I get a lift to home games with a friend and his Dad who both sit in the East Stand. They sit next to a councillor for Southend and this councillor is meant to be very in the know.

Anyway he said it is pretty much a formaility it will be approved. Rochford CC have got minimal objections and Ron Martins presentation won him many friends on the council.

I am told it is good as approved but not wanting to tempt thigns we will have to see I guess..

Yep. Town Clerks who needs 'em.

The chances of this undoubtedly grey man, in a grey suit, with a poor excuse for a beard, wearing bicycle clips (I've never seen him, but would bet this months salary on him looking exactly like that) liking football is ZERO.

Just had a search and I was dead right (see link, and see what Mr Tinlin thinks is good value). Where do I pick up my winnings?

You couldn't have got a more stereotypical council person if you had tried. The sort of person who commits their whole life to "public service" but in all reality only works for the council so they can hide themselves away from the real world. Having witnessed this first hand, it some strange kind of institutionalism.

We're f**ked then if he's got anything to do with it
