A-LIST American actor Dwayne Johnson could be part of Southend United’s future developments – if the current bid to buy Blues is accepted.

Echosport confirmed earlier this week that a group of local businessmen – which includes Simon Jackson and Kristofer Tremains from Kimura Capital and members from Integral Sports Management – are in advanced talks with Shrimpers chairman Ron Martin.

But it can now also be revealed that the group have made contact with Johnson and his production company, Seven Bucks Productions, are interested in making a documentary on the National League club should the takeover be confirmed.

Johnson is a former professional wrestler who is also known by his ring-name ‘The Rock’.
His involvement would raise worldwide interest in the Shrimpers as he currently has 381 million followers on Instagram and 17million on Twitter.

Another Hollywood actor Ray Winstone, a co-founder of ISM, could also be part of the bid as the prospective new owners look to lift Blues out of the doldrums.
Current owner Martin put the club up for sale in March after struggling to fund the Shrimpers in recent seasons.

Full-time office staff are still waiting to be paid for March and April while Blues have also been under a transfer embargo since September due to money owed to HMRC.
The club survived another winding up petition earlier this month and have until July 12 to pay off their remaining tax debt of £250,000.

Surely if that was the case, the talks wouldn't have reached an 'advanced stage'?
 
I am an aesthete somewhat like Brian Sewell so I’m not really aware of this barrel chested American fellow they call “the rocks”. Is it good news?
