Some of you will already know that one of my many projects out here in Spain is a TEFL teacher for a local company in Javea. During July we have a residential summer school teaching English to Spanish kids of all ages. (Granted, most of them return home speaking English with a very slight Thames Estuary accent!) It's fun, all the lessons take place in the open air, and you take great pride in seeing your students improve their language skills.

There is a vacancy for someone to teach English to youngsters aged between 4 and 8; Mrs XS was due to be taking on the challenge for the second year running but has just been offered a full-time job which means that she can no longer take the time off to teach at the summer school. The hours are easy - 9am until 1pm Monday to Friday with afternoons and weekends off to spend on the beach.

I know it's a long shot but if anyone fancies a month in the sun teaching English, please PM me. You don't necessarily need previous experience, just a tolerance to highly excitable kids. Although you'd have to get yourself here, I can probably sort out some cheap accommodation.

You never know - it might be fun ...

On a vaguely similar theme.....

What is the story with the armies of Euro kids that seem to invade Southend every summer?

You can easily identify these people because they have identical rucksacks, wear bad denim with Lotto trainers and the boys all have haircuts like Ivan Campo.

There was far more in Cambridge.....

Parents seemed to think a summer school in Cambridge was on par with a good ol' Cantab degree ;) Although saying that *if* I was to send my child to summer school and had a choice between Southend and Cambridge, as much as I love Essex, I know which would win!
