Breaking News Support The Team Not The Regime! New update 24/11

Wrexham and Southend of course are united in history by contesting one of the most legendary LDV vans finals of all time. Known in all the history books as the 'Ben Foster final' because he kept them in the game and secured a nice move to Man U in the process.
And the fa would not allow the national anthems to be sung

But there was an escape. A property developer took over a debt ridden club twenty two years ago and yet supporters are suddenly now surprised he is interested in maximising his profits?
Why was Ron able to buy the club? Because at the time no one else was interested which is likely the same situation now.
There is a difference between now and twenty two years ago, however, and that is the club then owned assets worth something. Now there is only debt
The time to make a fuss was twenty two years ago.
And here is the truth which will may see abuse directed at me: if Ron was even one tenth as some rabid posters allege the club would have folded years ago.
I don't think that is a fair assessment and this topic should not be in this thread but. Who knows if there was anybody else interested, the fact Vic was RM's neighbour was the reason it went through, probably on the hush hush to not attract attention from others. I don't think the club was actually advertised as up for sale anywhere as it isn't now.

The only reason the club has not folded is RM needs us as much as we need (cough) him.

a) In 1998, it wasn't Ron who bought Vic's shares. It was SEL. (RM and GK) http://www.shrimper.org.uk/news/shareholder.php.
b) It's not the same situation now. I know at least one person who is interested, but Ron won't sell.
c) Vic had no money left. See the website above.
d) If he had folded years ago, he wouldn't get anything. The club would fold, he'd get pennies in the pound

The reality as ever, is Ron is not evil. Just incompetent, charmless and stubborn.

The one thing I would disagree with you Napster is the word incompetent. Ron's main failing in my eyes is his readiness to not pay people at all or pay them late, from HMRC to the lowest paid on the SUFC payroll. The whole thing is based on borrowed money of course, that is the way the world turns so he should have in retrospect taken this into account and borrowed sufficient to cover projected shortfalls. Of course his lenders may not have agreed.
However the stadium plan in my view is brilliant and will help us have a queue of prospective buyers when built and the provision of housing on the Fossetts site and Root's Hall meet an ever increasing social need. Getting to this stage with all the plans agreed and Southend Council on board is actually quite amazing and a lot less than incompetent. Hopefully he can get the bridging loan and crack on.

I know i have mentioned them before and we all know how great our own fans are but you cannot fail to notice the amazing help the fans of Wrexham are being with this fund raising

Below are some of the comments left on the GFM page and it just goes to show how much they care about clubs that find themselves in financial trouble.

Absolutely amazing stuff and if you get a chance please join their site and thank them all like i have, here is the link.

Personally, I feel that when we go up to Wrexham away in March, that we as supporters should hold a minuites applause for the Wrexham fans and their support for our club.
We pick an appropriate minuite on the clock, the clap the Wrexham supporters.

There's a very good chance that these questions will go into the 'Too Hard' corner @GBJ.

It would appear that way, which sadly, reinforces my belief that the poster in question is neither a club sponsor, nor a fan and is only interested in denigrating the FF development for his own reasons, whether they are personal or political (or both)

I’d also add delusions of grandeur to the mix, too.

Also re Wrexham support, we could ask on their forum for one of their supporters flags, and hang it somewhere in the ground, back of block W or X, to show camaradery and our appreciation between the two clubs.
Just a thought.

Ron may well be incompetent charmless stubborn and many other things as well but looking at the present situation it seems likeliest that he has either :
(a) run out of available cash;
(b) has found it impossible to raise the sums needed to keep the show on the road.

If it is (b) it is worrying as the situation could deteriorate very quickly.

If there is a genuine buyer out there I am happy to stand corrected. Would it not now be wise for the Trust and/or others to prepare for the worse should it occur?

If there is a buyer his chance may come quite soon. If Ron truly has lost the ability to raise money it is hard to see how he can see through the development.

I have no inside information but I am just trying to read the tea leaves.

It's funny really. I would suggest that making sure we have adequate cash flow, failing to pay suppliers on time, or even at all, alienating the fanbase, not filing accounts on time, having regular court dates with HMRC, former staff, et al, says he's incompetent.

He'd have been sacked by any company a long time ago and everyone knows that.

He's changed the goalposts for the stadium a few times; he'd have had prior advice from the Council on what they need to get approval.

What I want to know, is, we know the associated companies are backed by the Zakays - why haven't they stepped in at all with a loan or investment? Surely they can see the benefit?

EDIT: Not the Zakays anymore. Maybe the Dellals to some extent, but more likely CBRE

Do we. Pray tell more. I can't see that confirmed anywhere. Their firm is Topland. Maybe it's them striking a very hard bargain. Interesting.

Just a reminder from my convoluted thread:

Thames Plaza PLC (TP) has 3 charges against them. Two of these are from Citizen Housing (Southend) CH(S). (One other was from Topland Jupiter (TJ)). Two of these were on the on same day in May 2019). TP has two directors, Ron and Jack. Patrick van der Waag, the current director of SUFC resigned the same day as the registered charges above).

Topland Jupiter loaned £5m to Thames Plaza last October (2019). TJ are well known as the holding company of the billionaire Zakay brothers.

Citizen Housing LLP and Allied Housing LLP - AH is a member of CH and vice versa. AH is also a vehicle for Alexander Dellal (from Allied Commercial)

CH 1 Ltd has 2 officers - Alex Dellal and Jack Martin.

CH (Southend) Ltd has 2 officers - Alex Dellal and Janine Bell. This is who loaned TP money.

Elounda was formed in August 2018. It has 2 charges, from Topland Jupiter and Allied Commercial. It has 4 officers - Ron, Jack, Ron's wife and other son.

So, in a nutshell, there's two big players involved in capitalisation: the Dellals at Allied Commercial and the Zakays at Topland.

Perhaps they stumped up the 2 mill for the training ground (it came from somewhere) and are not prepared to give anymore until spades are in the ground re the housing hence why RM is looking elsewhere for a bridging loan. All hypothetical of course but i doubt they care about SUFC very much.

The couple of times we've met, he was actually charming.
BUT I think he likes to be charmed, and the slithery Harry would be good at that. Trust me, I know.
But agree on competence, especially when it comes to choosing managers.
Out of the 16 since he took over, and excepting Webby as a stop-gap, the right man was Tilson, Sturrock, Brown first time, and so far, Kev.
And before any one rounds on the handle, I kinda told Chris I didn't want him to take it at the time.
It was predictable and sad.

Rayleigh Boy is one of the biggest idiot I ever know 🤦🏻‍♂ You want our season to be destroyed by wanting an administration, when Devon Blue liked your post, alarm bell ringing!
One of very few talking some sense on here. Can you stop bringing my name into your posts it’s a bit obsessive and weird.

By what, people asking a sensible question (and no clear firm answer being given) on how any funds donated to the go fund me page will be spent
Stop asking sensible questions it’s not what the deaf echo-chamber loving members of this forum want to hear
