classic, tell us more about said experience
He was at a memorial service for some chap (alas, no idea who) at King's College London.  Being President of choir, I got to meet the "dignitaries" at every big event we had (e.g. George Carey, Archbishop of Canterbury... rather dull; Desmond Tutu, Archbishop of Cape Town... awesome, most spellbinding man I've ever met).

Anyhow, Jimmy Saville was there, so I met him.  He's really surprisingly short... 5'4", no more.  I had no idea how to address him - and so he came out with a "Now then, now then... it's Sir Jim, lad... Sir Jim."  He wasn't joking, either.

An odd bloke.  But bizarre to meet him, all the same.

Roy Castle is up there for most magnetic personalties, though... he made every room he was in sparkle.  After Tutu, possibly the most genial man I've met.  Awesome, and a sad loss.

Damn you MtS - I have done a 111 metre bungee off the Victoria Falls Bridge between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The best part is I did not pay a penny for it as it was gift from a company I had just installed some software for in Harare likewise the flight from Harare to Victoria Falls.

Those where the days when I use to jetset the globe all in the name of business, flying Business class and staying in 5* hotels.

Wow, my life seems so boring and mundane now after reading all of this (even though I don't really know who any of these people y'all have met are). However, I did meet President Clinton back in '99 and even chatted with him for a few minutes.

I once hunted Dolphins on a trip to Japan.

When I worked in the crooked billet I had the pleasure of serving Chas and Dave.

I've only ever wanted to bungy in one place: and that's Queenstown, South Island, NZ. That's where AJ Hackett invented bungy jumping, and they have the best safety record in the world.

They do one called the Nevis High-wire - it's the second highest bungy in the world (one in South Africa is 200m...

). And, yes, it was amazing and terrifying. My stomach has just leapt there, just thinking about it.

You drop for 8 or 9 seconds, and you do reach terminal velocity. And the memory of seeing the ground rushing towards me is still mind-boggling...

Really glad I did it. Also really, really certain that I won't do it again!

Matt

P.S. I was telling a slight porky... it was 134m (c. 436 ft, for Seth) to be precise.

P.P.S. Seth... don't worry about it, man. As Chairman Bob and I would both have to confess... we're a fair bit older than you. That means we've had more time to have these sort of bizarre and wonderful experiences.

I met loads of famous women when I worked as an engineer for the Portland hospital for women, where all the top stars go.

I raced around Donnington on a souped up Vespa.

We used to band practice with the , then, reformed X Ray Spex and also Daisy Chainsaw.

I regularly recieve correspondence from MP's, TV, and newspapers owing to the amount of complaints I send.
