Survey from the Club about Burger offerings

I would bet that if the price was reduced to £5 for the upgraded burgers as a trial period for a couple of matches, many more people would buy food in the ground even at £7 each if the quality was much better.
Personally I would love it if the quality of the coffee was improved as the current instant stuff is poor and I get a coffee at the BP wild bean outlet as its much better.

This !
I'm driving so not interested in a beer. Sort the bloody coffee out please !!

100% I would. If the food was good enough it would become part of the match day experience for a lot of fans. Get there a bit earlier, bit of decent grub for lunch and a few beers before the football. And more importantly more money being spent on an income stream that will directly benefit the club. Everyone’s a winner.

John Cohen from the parish of Tesco said, ' pile it high sell it cheap'. Football crowds are a finite number and the percentage that indulge in match day grub at the ground is small. That number would swell if the fare was fair.

The club could make a name for itself by providing better fare at more favourable prices. It's a bit rich to promote oneself as a family club and then price families out.

The 'slap it in a bap' mentality needs to go. If procurement is efficient, the current margins must be high. If you improve the product and it's presentation, along with the hygiene, you will reduce the margin slightly but your gross and net will increase with higher sales.

You wouldn't pay for Michelin star food if it were served to you from the toilets. £7 is not a problem for some but however good the burger is, it is still served in a ground that resembles a latrine.

Do right by the fans and the fans will be right behind you.

Further I wonder, if a fans group like ST, were to mobilise their contacts, perhaps the concession stands could be run by volunteers instead of franchising?

I prefer the club to earn money rather than take money.

I agree with a lot of this, which is why I was amazed they whacked the price up to £5 for a burger this season. It's not just the burger, it's the quality of the place selling it. I'm not sure thinking about it that £2/2.50 extra is warranted until they've upgraded the actual kiosks.

£7 for a burger feels like a lot to be honest. If that was burger and chips, then maybe. I understand it’s not the same for everyone, but as a Father who goes with his teenage son, if I eat, I’m never eating alone!! It becomes an expensive day out. Tickets, £22 for me £11 for my lad. 2 x £7 for the burgers, 2 x £2 for a drink each. Train ticket into town each which is 2 x £6.40. That’s a total £63.80 for 90 mins of entertainment.

This is a wind up surely!!!

We are again in an abysmal run of form with a stubborn/clueless manager & all COSU want to know is if we want a bigger burger!

It won’t matter next season when in NLS!!!

No. It’s the club trying to seek the right way to both keep the supporters happy (off the pitch) and maximise revenue. The latter would help with playing budget for next season.

A wind up would be carrying on as before and letting the club slowly die

Appreciate the comments above, but is seven quid that expensive? Especially if it's nice?

The way to sustainability is discretionary spend. For instance, on a Saturday afternoon kick off, after football training for WS Junior, we have lunch (usually somewhere in Westcliff such as Smash Piri Piri, Fireaway Pizza or Just Greek) as he's a teenager and has to eat every few hours, before going to Roots Hall.

That money could be spent at the ground on lunch - the club only gets our season ticket money, replica shirt purchases etc. so to get more out of me and WS Junior (well, me) the food and drink offerings need to get better.

Hence mine and others discretionary spend goes up. QED.

For a decent offering, 7 to 9 quid isn't bad IMHO but then I work at Canary Wharf which is the most expensive place in Europe, it seems...

Bloody veggies. Can't you just order a cheese burger but get them to keep the burger:Thumbs up:

Will probably taste a darn sight better
At my local restaurant a veggie burger is 5 Euros. It consists of a bun inside of which is cheese, mushrooms, pickled cucumber, lettuce, peppers and tomatoes oh and of course onions. But no burger!
