To my knowledge our 15th month embargo was the 2nd longest ever in English football. @Exiled Shrimper would be well placed to confirm details.

I think Sol's problem was covid and his medical issues with likability.
It was certainly shorter than Reading's, which lasted a little over two years from 8th July 2021 to 13th July 2023, but I'd need to do a lot more research to check if it was the second longest in English football. After a fortnight, they were placed under another embargo (which only lasted a week on that occasion).

Let's get to the end of this season with the three amigo's still running the show. Southend are not getting relegated and have a slim chance of making the play off's. Season 25-26 they will have the first pre season for a long while to sign players, have a full pre season of training and friendly matches. Only then once the season is underway will we have any idea of how good the three amigo's are. Reflecting on the issues the club has had over the last few season's only then will we truly be able to assess the management team.

But then we'd be 18th instead of 11th.
no football is an entertainment business we have won whilst playing some absolutely crab boring football, just because we sit 11th dosent mean the football has been entertaining . we could be in the playoffs yet still playing crab ,sideways backwards dull boring football ,obviously thats what you would like ,Myself ive always stated win or lose i love football tobe entertaining goalmouth duels, scintillating fast forward drives by players etc ,players willing to give everything for the shirt, Not the slow drab football thats been dished up so often this season.

I get what you're saying. Wanting him to succeed means giving him the opportunity to succeed, which also means giving him an unhindered summer of transfer business to have a mini rebuild, and not crying for him to be sacked after a loss or a "bad performance", or when we're one of the in form teams in the division and only 3-6 points off the playoffs despite having another ****e summer and starting somewhat behind.

I get what @Tampa Blue is saying, and don't doubt him.....but I also see how the two things could be perceived to be at odds.
You may be right, Medway Blue, but while Kevin Maher has certainly been hampered by the impact of RM's time at the club and did brilliantly in difficult circumstances last season, some of his problems this season have been self-inflicted.

I do think the vast majority of supporters want Maher's management team to be successful, but doubts have crept in because of his tactics and use of players in what has largely been a disappointing season so far. Hopefully, we will get more of the same after the excellent Halifax result and have a strong finish to the season, but in my experience opportunities have to be continually earned rather than expected because of past achievements.

I have changed my vote back to giving a thumbs up to Kev and Co.
I originally voted No ,but after Sittingborne and Maidenhead I was so upset I was ready to give him gardening leave, bring in Neil Harris till end of season to see how it goes.
Now I have calmed down and we seem to be a bit more progressive and points are coming Kev is back in Favour.
I would not have sacked him only gardening leave.
Sorry Kev💙🧢🛩

I've come off the fence, back into a NO position. With the additions that are Goodliffe, Hayes, Golding, Hopper, Kendal and Parillon i am very pleased.
Especially Hayes by the way, definetly saved us points already.
I've seen the way Kev has moulded the defence and used that strength to build off.
Maher has done things his way, recently come out and said he'll do it his way as well, and gone and backed it up with results and i'll whisper this word quietly.. "entertainment".
Fair play Kev.

Oh and i dont know who found Golding, but the guy is a beast at this level. Cultured like a Rio Ferdinand, but beast.

Going on the fence from NO, mightve felt like a knee jerk overreaction to the debacle of Sittingbourne. Looking reflectively, we'd have hardly any chance of getting/staying in the playoffs with Trophy cup games to play. The distraction is gone.

What Shrimp and two says above about Golding is interesting. It looked as though Kev preferred Golding over Goodliffe but then, was it the Sittingbourne match?, he chose Goodliffe and until last night stuck with him. By all accounts Golding had a very good game. So will Kev stick by him at Tamworth? Good to have the competition for the shirt.

Golding's had a slight injury I believe

He had, and was nursing a groin injury during those games where Goodliffe started.

Golding is undoubtedly a player that Maher would play if fit. He's a Kensdale replacement for sure and is so crucial to how we play.

I think Maher sees Goodliffe as the option for when we need to defend and Golding when we need to play out from the back.

(Sittingbourne we needed Golding but he was ill)

I value continuity more than Maher. I think we’ve possibly been hindered by all the chopping and changing and would rather a more consistent base. But he also has to manage a dressing room of individuals and injuries that I’m not privy to.

I've been critical of Maher and a couple of results doesn't change my opinion but while were getting those results there's no way he'll be replaced. Were getting nearer to the end of the season and were closing the gap on the playoffs so the question is almost irrelevant really. Lets hope we keep climbing the table and we have something to get excited about towards the end of the season.

Getting in the playoffs with the way the season started would be a great achievement regardless of the style of play (which has been my gripe).

Would not be surprised if for the Tamworth game only, we played both Golding and Goodliffe. We know full well ,just how many high balls are going to get into our penalty area. Either by that long throw or any other means. Add Taylor and Ralph to the mix it will give us a good chance of nullifying Tamworth's aerial threat. Revert to type for Boston.
