David Burton-Sampson, Labour MP for Southend West and Leigh, spoke at prime minister’s questions today. He asked the PM to join him in congratulating Southend United on its performance at Wembley on Sunday, and on its rise like a phoenix from the flames after the COSU takeover. Sir Keir Starmer congratulated Southend, and of course Oldham too. The PM said he knew all about Southend as a member of his security protection team is a passionate Blues fan and never stops talking about them. Starmer is a Gooner.
