And the substance to this rumour is?

Given One daughter was meant to be 15 when dating Ricky Otto (in 1994) and therefore is approx 26, and the other one is late 20's it is slightly odd (if not unheard of) for them to be going out with a relatively young 22 year old.

Also dont they both live around here (southend) and so would have been tricky if not unheard, to have a relationship with Paynter who was in hull.

Who knows though hey....

That may well be a reason why he wanted to move to Southend, but in case you hadn't noticed Peter Taylor was sacked as manager about a decade ago.

Surely this is borderline libel? If you're stating that the reason we signed Paynter is because he's engaged to the daughter of a friend of Tilly, then I'd imagine the club wouldn't be too impressed.

In my opinion i think he was a panic buy. We didnt have the target man sort of striker other than Ricketts who was injured to start the season and Tilson probably spoke to Peter Taylor who may of suggested Painter as he signed him at Hull.

I only hope Tilson accepts his made a mistake with this one and gets him out the team before he costs us many points!!

Im aware of that, but just saying that given the ages and distance it may be unlikely!

Either way, Im sure the folowing conversation never happened;

Peter Taylor 'here Tilly, as I got you a cushty number with England under 21's can you please by my future son in law, from a club I no longer have anything to do with.....it would make my daughter ever so happy'?

ACtually I think these rumours if untrue are pretty disgusting as it calls Tilson's integrity into question, and once again I dont think the two Ms Taylors would like their names being subject to rumours on this board again.

I think its libellous to suggest that Steve Tilson would base a purchase entirely on a phonecall from failed manager Peter Taylor.

I don't for one moment doubt that Tilly did talk to Spud, and I don't doubt that Spud did recommend him but I am also certain that we do a little bit more research than just that before we sign someone.

Right!! Hang on now folks - b4 the Tilly witch hunt starts lets set things straight.. I heard this rumour a while back that Paynter was seeing Lauren Taylor and wanted to move back here when she and her family did - however I have now been informed by a reliable club employee that Paynter has a missus in toe and it isnt Lauren Taylor. All just rumours it seems.
