This one again, This one again, Please stop, I Pray I Pray I Pray - The current state of chanting.

Have to say, as the author of this thread I have been mighty impressed with the variety of tunes being belted out by the truly alive North Bank recently.

Saturday and the Oldham game really took me back to being a young lad in 1985 running up and down the terrace and listening to the vibrations of Roots Hall. Saturday was how I remember Roots Hall sounding. It is like someone has flicked a switch and the old girl is alive again. There is simply no place like it when it is rocking and an even more rare thing now with the advent of all these new stadiums. Thank goodness we are staying put. Hope the architects are sympathetic to the history and feeling of the Hall when the stands get redeveloped one by one...I'm sure they will be, we are in good hands.

Great post, sir. I feel the same. It’s an absolute buzz being back in there.

Seeing as we are 'The Shrimpers', I can't make out why there is not a song or chant that includes our nickname.

I noticed yesterday at Anfield the fans were chanting 'Champions, Champions, Champions..... ' we could chant 'Shrimpers'.

Seriously how can you not love Southend and COSU, i watched the Video off the after match celebrations,i tell you if we do make it to Wembley expect 30 thousand there, Southend has finally come alive and Roots Hall with it. If we dont make it this season we will next season. I spoke a long time ago the we should have our own song ,something like what i just saw on the Hibernan thread ,something that will make the hairs on the back off your next stand up and your heart beat faster,A club Anthem for everyone in Southend to be proud off .For too long we have been looked down upon by the big clubs had that Spammer saying we wasnt a club, , Finally have the North Bank back and what great atmosphere it has given the old girl, All i can say is sing loud sing long you people its great to hear .

@CC51DAS had a rather unique chant for Martyn Margetson , which didn't take on beyond the first couple of Rows of the SU

Tell me ma when I get home
Ive been to see the Margetson
Catching balls in the air
Stopping goals every where
He is Handsome
He is pretty
He used to play for Manchester city
Hes the best since our Roycie
Martyn Margetson

Great memory Gary 👍

Also used to like each stand sing to each other, "were the east stand, were the east stand, were the east down of rootshall, then the west and south would have there go.
Def.

I was east for a number of years, the east only sings when we are 3-0 up, or if we are feeling massively hard done by by the ref or other bad circumstance, or if the west were calling us out.
