For those supporters who said Tilson brought a tear to their eye ????????? get a life. He is just another ex manager. Perhaps we could present Dave Smith with a gift next week.

Dave Smith was a good manager for us. I loved watching Derek Spence and Keith Mercer, and our unbeaten home record 1980/81.
BUT
Did he ever play for Southend?
Did he ever get us into the second tier of English Football?
Was he ever voted favourite ever Southend player?
Did he ever live in Essex prior to his job at Southend?
Did he ever Support Southend and stand on th terraces as a boy?

Don't think Tilly is just another ex-manager, he was a bit more than that to most fans. (I know not all)

Did I say that ?

You can't take Ron's antics out on the team on the pitch...slag Ron off all you like, but don't delight in our team losing cos it means Tilly and his new team win.

Just for the record, Rayleigh Boy did actually say he enjoyed watching the Blues lose...for that I will NEVER have any respect for him.

I am a massive Tilson fan and hope he goes down in history but not for a minute did I want him to win yesterday
Before and after the match he got the reception he deserved but you can't be serious by saying you enjoyed watching the team you support loose even if it was too (in my opinion) a legend.
We need the 3 points next Friday or I fear that we will be playing Tilson next season

No, he's not just another ex-manager. Bate, Murphy, Whelan, Little, Martin, Thompson, Morris, Hudson, Williams are all examples of just another ex-manager. This one has spent most of his working life giving sterling service to the club he supported, played for and managed and was treated abominably by this club not once, but twice. I feel sorry for those who can't see beyond getting 3 points on a Saturday.
Will you be happy if Lincoln take the last play off place instead of us because of this result. Its not about respect for Tilly its about supporters thinking that Tilly having a smile on his face is more important than us winning

I'm certain Steve Tilson wouldn't have expected any Southend fans to be cheering on a Lincoln win. Surely yesterday was all about giving Tilson the ovation he thoroughly deserved pre and post match, but spending the 90 minutes hoping we'd give Lincoln a humping?

Ah well, looks like we'll be playing there again next season too. Here's hoping it's a Southend-Lincoln 1-2 in League Two 2011/12.

Cos it pees me off when I read that fans enjoyed watching Tilly celebrate a Lincoln win

I enjoyed the fact Tilly got one over on Ron, and I suspect it's the same for many fans. I don't want to see Southend lose, but if you have to lose to anyone, at least it's a former club hero getting one over on the man who's done so much to harm (allegedly), our club.

If that makes me a bad fan, so be it.

it won't affect Ron.

Bet it didn't sit well with him though, and that's good enough for me.

when I was a a child I used to dream of SUFC beating clubs like Man U and Chelsea - an Essex boy like me made that come true - I made sure that I was not with Southend fans yesterday and I really really enjoyed the Ashley Grimes winner - and I really enjoyed seeing the Lincoln players immediately celebrating with a an honourable and respected football professional - and I thought the homage paid by the massive Shrimp support to Tilson at the end of the game was one of the most moving football occassions I have seen -

Are you actually for real? What a bizarre statement from, I'm guessing, a Southend supporter.

I agree entirely with these sentiments. The bigger picture is more important than an individual match.

I was pleased Tilly took all 3 points yesterday. The way he has been treated by Southend United within the last 12 months is shameful, revenge over RM yesterday was a crumb of comfort for people like myself who feel completely disillusioned with the club at the moment.

But what about Southend fans who want see their team win, quite naturally, how can you explain getting revenge over RM to them as a good outcome of a play off ending defeat.

I am with rayleigh boy here, I have no respect for you ever dwb, you cannot see further than the pillow you share with martin. your comments on tilson make you look a complete ****, most of my friends on fb, who were on the coach yesterday, alll subscribed to the thread steve tilson 2 ron martin 1. the only thing that was missing yesterday was some of lads wanting to try and get martin, but i guess you would have laid down your life for him. I am gutted that I missed yesterday
and yeah it was good to see tilly beat us. lets hope he now beats us in court and gets whats owed to him

tilly and brush class ,

This thread says it all.... Blues fans that werent that fussed that southend lost!! i hope you are happy RM you @@@@@@@ @@@@@@

TILLY is still a Shrimper, hence his interview comments "grew up supporting SUFC etc" he's just not our manager any more.I did'nt like seeing it but can't begrudge him celebrating the winning goal as Lincoln's manager. The fact that he was in that position is down to RON W****R and I hope that the occasion, the excellent turn out by us and the reception we gave TILLY and BRUSH made him squirm.
