Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
A wing back
That's the issue. He's not really suited defensively and pushed higher up. Let's call what we need left wing/attacking left-sided mid. Ideally a Gus on left side but hard enough to find a right sided Gus!

We've used Leon in that advanced role when switching systems, but IMO he's wasted there and better through the middle. Josh has been tried also. The squad lacks balance there and Brigey sadly, cannot sustain a high level over a full season. He needs competition.

He’s not someone to build around IMO and I’m struggling to see how a third experienced midfielder is going to fit into this squad. Maybe if Cav departs and if Rees is a bench player to come on for Parillon?

Coker has scored 12 goals in 48 starts for us according to Soccerbase. That works as a goalscoring midfielder, even before adding in any projected improvement.
I get your trepidation, as experience has normally meant treatment table for us. We have a terrible track record. With that in mind, Kev may feel the same as you. Only time will tell I guess.

One thing we can agree on, we've all said for the entire season that we don't have enough goals and assists from midfield. That simply has to change and be addressed, which I'm sure it will.

Is that maybe because the hold up play and crossing coming in has been lacking? Leon and Cokes do have goals in them but agree can't see many more goals from that area.

Someone who can whip in a good early cross or a corner, someone who can be clinical on the end of those crosses or corners. With these and provided we can get Goodliffe/Golding permanently (which we should be going all out to do) and we’re already looking better.

Reece hall-Johnson always seems to impress against us, knows the division well, worth a punt

Interesting post from @TheSouthendUnitedRunner on another thread stating that the Football Department will have two lists - one for if we get promotion, and one if we don't so for our NL title winning campaign for next year.

Would have thought there would be a lot of overlap but maybe not?

There are overlapping names on these lists. Golding for example.

Some, we obviously have a better chance of signing if we are a League Two club next season however it’s not entirely impossible they join in the National League.

There will be some that we identify that we don’t believe they’ll drop to the National League, but can ask the question. There will be some from lower leagues that an extra level up might be too high a jump for them…

Any names on the thread thus-far on the boards?

One of the things that players will be looking at is who will be the best bets for promotion next season, if we don't go up I'd hope York do as they already have a good squad, a decent fanbase and a good budget.

Aside from them, I think we would rank pretty favourably, particularly amongst the southern teams.

One player that should be on our radar is Carlton Ubaezuono at Scunthorpe, he can play anywhere down the left and from the times I have seen him play has been a real handful

I saw his name mentioned earlier in the thread, but Kyrell Lisbie is off to the football league - Peterborough.
