It's a busy day at the office, and after winning the 2041 Champions League, we are playing Corinthians in the World Club Championship semi-finals. Work, work, work.

I have just installed this version of CM after a mate gave me some of his old games, i can't remember for the life of me what the required tactics are! I just get thumped every week! :cry:

Amusingly, the Board were 'disappointed', mentioning that our fans' 'enthusiastic support appears to be wavering'. Luckily we won the League Cup and FA Cup that year and I clung on to my job.

As far as tactics go, you gotta go with WWW2 - it's the only one worth mentioning.

I think my best was 2025 from the same version of the game. The difference is that I got fed up with the board refusing to expand Roots Hall for Champions League football and left for Barcelona and eventually Flamengo.

On the plus side, this did give me the opportunity to win the Spanish League, the Copa del Rey, the Champions League, the European Super Cup, the European Championships (with England), the Copa Libertadores, the Brazilian National Championship and the Rio State Championship all in one calendar year.

Not sure I'll ever beat that manager points score. Forget 5/600,000, that one was up over 800,000 IIRC!

This is what I really try to avoid doing in FM and this is why achievements in a change of jobs post 2010, say, are much better than starting. I never felt much satisfaction from buying from a set of decent players.

I've had Roots Hall expanded three times, you just gotta keep asking! I will never leave Southend, never!

It's a beautiful sunny day, but my little man is unwell (my son, not my penis) so I'm stuck indoors with a grumpy five year old who is insisting on watching 'King of the Hill' rather than the Chelsea/Manure game. Making the best of a bad situation, I am back with the virtual Blues of the future, currently playing the 2048/49 season. After a shaky start to the season, including a full dressing room revolt (virtually every player was shown to have 'lost faith in their manager's ability), we have come good and are 7 points clear at the top of the Premiership and taking a one-nil lead to Lyon in the quarter final of the Champions' League.

However, I have just been informed that the club has had to call in the Receivers due to a financial crisis, and that I need to sell players ASAP. Does anybody know if the game will allow a team to go broke? The transfer window is closed so my hands are tied at the moment, and however sad this may be, it would break my heart to have the Blues fold, even in CM world.

Strangely I feel the same. I just can't leave this game alone. I started it in 2003 and didn't touch it for about 18 months, but it's always been there lurking. I've started numerous games on this and more recent CM/FM versions, but this epic odyssey just sits there on my hard drive, saying, 'go on, you know you want to'.
