Yeah Samuel is just playing to the right wing crowd for whom Khan is a primary hate/ blame figure. Doesn't really bother trying to figure out who else bears responsibilityUnfortunately the Times are blaming the Mayor for not intervening and then talk about the public sector, which gets the NL off the hook.
That said, at least it's publicity.
There’s a surprise.Unfortunately the Times are blaming the Mayor for not intervening and then talk about the public sector, which gets the NL off the hook.
My money would be on that probably being correct BUT someone has advised the likely attendance and got that wrong. And then there is the crazy contingency plan of the coaches.Jack Pearce who is the Chairman of the National League was the vice-chair of the FA… unsure if he still holds a role on the FA board.
I’ve just seen the NL statement who are blaming TfL, claiming the venue was booked long before the engineering works were booked in.

National League Statement: Promotion Final Ticket Allocations - The Vanarama National League
The National League wish to make the following statement regarding Promotion Final ticketing allocations.www.thenationalleague.org.uk
Plenty of parking at Festival Leisure Park although the club do seem to have advised that it's just drop off facilities.A bit of advice please. I managed to purchase a ticket/coach package. It states Festival Park
drop off only. I'm driving from M Keynes to Basildon, is there any parking near Festival Park?
Ed Milliband is going to be over the moon with this.
I’m m calling BS as wellI’m still calling bs on this. The earliest published dates I can find are Feb this year so either a) they were finalised late or b) NL and TFL agreed the dates long in advance of publishing and determined that engineering wouldn’t be a problem. If it turns out there is a c) I’ll choke on it.

Id recommend parking in spaces outside church on Church Rd then walk down cross main road and into Festival Leisure Park.A bit of advice please. I managed to purchase a ticket/coach package. It states Festival Park
drop off only. I'm driving from M Keynes to Basildon, is there any parking near Festival Park?

This is an interesting comment on that forumI’m m calling BS as well
The league is stating they booked Wembley. They don’t say a date.
I found this railway enthusiasts website. Two people are saying it was originally booked for Saturday not Sunday. Unfortunately they offer no proof. I have signed up but you have to add 5 posts on railway stuff before you can post on general forum ( and I’m on holo and wife is ****ed at me already for being on phone sorting tickets and coming home early for match)
Reduced capacity at Wembley stadium due to engineering works - has anything like this happened before?
That's not unprecedented: the 2011, 2021 and 2022 matches were all away from Wembley. But nearly all of the 20k Southend fans with tickets will want the match to be at Wembley, not somewhere else. Southend took 20k fans to Cardiff for the LDV vans (English Football League Trophy) final in...www.railforums.co.uk
If some one can post on here and then ask these guys to provide proof that we can then give to club
Yeah, saw that, and also two posts stating that in January date was stated as Saturday not Sunday. As you said I can’t find anything before 20 feb announced anywhere. This is an interesting comment on that forum
‘Just for some context from a railway perspective, this resignalling date has been in my diary for around 18 months at this stage. A little earlier than it would have been for most off public timelines, but that's by the by. It will have been in more senior folk's diaries for longer.
The next window to complete this section of resignalling (because it's far more drawn out than bumping it by a week, given the number of lines affected, the involvement of a small army of technical staff, some of whom are contractors, and the need to avoid works on other lines) is towards the end of the year. Why should hundreds of thousands of generally passengers be put out by delaying an already late resignalling project for the sake of a few tens of thousands...?
In life there are always winners and there are always losers. This is one of those situations. Unfortunately a relatively small number of people will have to bear some pain.
(And just to be clear, the chances of this work being deferred are approximately 0 at this stage.)’
And, more importantly, any change should have led to a double checking of everything associated with the final. That includes the trains and stations. And this comment
‘The National League Play Off Final date was changed relatively recently (mid-February from memory as I'm not logging into my work email to check for sure) as I was involved in the revised schedules on the Bakerloo Line that are running that day (additional trains running to Harrow & Wealdstone between 1200 and 1900).’
Admittedly it was only changed by one day from 31st May to 1st June - but it goes to show that the play-off date wasn't confirmed over a year ago.
However the engineering is Saturday and Sunday isn’t it? Therefore same result but still a case of who knew what and when & who decided and whenYeah, saw that, and also two posts stating that in jangle date was stated as Saturday not Sunday. As you said I can’t find anything before 20 feb announced anywhere.
If we could find this then it’s ‘proof’ that NL have screwed up unless there is some massive justification for changing
I am 100% that this is the public sector. The NL may be pretty hopeless but I attach no blame to them in this case. As I have already said a fish rots from the head.Unfortunately the Times are blaming the Mayor for not intervening and then talk about the public sector, which gets the NL off the hook.
That said, at least it's publicity.
The play-off date is not mentioned until Feb. Nothing in their pre-season piece. TFL Document was made by a Phil Dunwell. Might be someone to find to see when the works were announcedYeah, saw that, and also two posts stating that in jangle date was stated as Saturday not Sunday. As you said I can’t find anything before 20 feb announced anywhere.

Yes the closures affecting Wembley are both Sat and Sun. I think there are other lines closed on Sat as well. So it maybe that Sun is a less worse travel situation than SatHowever the engineering is Saturday and Sunday isn’t it?
