Wembley tickets

Ok, this is the latest. From a "friend".

"Spoke to Andy Burnham tonight and we’re going to speak in the morning. Tbf, I think it’s a little misleading and not as horrendous as it sounds. From what I’m told the 17,500 cap is only for those who can’t get a coach. According to Oldham there’s an allocation of an extra 9,000 for those who can get a coach (so 26,500 each in total) and if they sell out there’s a good chance they can order more…"

That's the position tonight which I know you'll all have heard versions of but both clubs have made representation along with a few big dogs in media and sport who are on it too.

My view is enough pressure will see TFL and the Mayor fold, especially with the community angle ( government supposed to be supporting the pyramid and community sport) or will have to find a way of opening the capacity by way of both clubs "proving" numbers and need for more tickets.

TFL/Mayor then say "there's 55k at the game, we listened ", while not changing the planned works. As I said, that's the position tonight and it's early days.

Fair to say that this will grow and grow by the day as long as supporters do everything to plan ahead ( coaches), both clubs ( who are) putting pressure on and perhaps most importantly, big voices "put it out there" wherever they can.

Will keep you posted.
Thanks Stan. An issue though is that once the 17.5k allocation has gone then it is necessary to buy a coach ticket (at £40 for us) to get a match ticket. That coach is from Southend to Wembley. Many of us don't live in Southend - many would have to travel through London to get to Southend! It's ridiculous to link sales to coach travel.

Am I missing something. Just checked National Rail - there is a train to Wembley Stadium every 10 mins from Marylebone on the Sunday, both ways, throughout the day...
Yes, they have added extra services because of the engineering works. Would imagine most Oldham supporters will go to Wembley Central from Euston.

@StanCollymore
Brilliant. Thanks Stan

I'd love to know where all these coaches are going to park. Roads around wembley will be at a standstill

Bet its a big charge on the ULEZ charge as well bringing a coach into London...

Just let us get the trains, open up the concourse after the game, let us drink Wembley dry (Might need a remortgage or a reduction in the cost of a beer though) and we can head home win or lose over the course of an hour or 2

There is a coach park at Wembley for nearly 300 coaches

Stan thanks for all your help but 9000 accepted on coaches is a bit of weak attempted face saver for the administrators- that 150 coaches at a weeks notice? Does AB think Oldham can find 150 full sized coaches? And if a coach is alright why isn’t my car full of four supporters with pre paid booking at an official Wembley Stadium Car Park? Why should that count towards the 17,500. As I understand it we can currently manage 1,400 not 9,000 in coaches… thanks for all your help both now in down the years. Truly appreciated

I just can’t get my head round the whole coach notion.
Whether it’s thought out in detail is palpably up for debate, but the obvious take is that “they” (be it TFL or police) just don’t want 35,000 plus people descending on stations that aren’t fit to cope. Coach arrivals are deemed to be less problematic.

The difficulty with this even if a load of pressure is exerted at the highest level is that someone somewhere has signed this capacity off as the maximum on “safety” grounds and they’ll have to backtrack on that. Difficult to suddenly say it’s ok to have 50,000 fans using the same trains that yesterday you said were only safe to carry 40,000. Some creative thinking needed to safe face…
