Fresh Scottish Mackerel, filleted & grilled, followed by a nice chunk of smoked Cod Roe, generously spread out on 2 slices of toast. Fantastic, good old Leigh Old Town!.

Home made veg soup, onion, carrot, celery, courgette, cauliflower, handful of spinach and some baby tomatoes, which had frozen for some reason in my fridge in the garage! Plus a couple of veg stock cubes and a good sprinkling of mixed herbs. It's done us two days and was very tasty.

Could have done with a cup of that last night at the game, nice winter warmer.

Do you use a soup maker ? - have been thinking about getting one but not sure how much we will use it.

Nope, just use a good hand blender - you have to be careful when blitzing so you don't get splashed but it works fine. I don't sieve it either as I prefer it with a bit of substance to it. You can whizz it in a food processor too if you have one, no need for a soup maker as far as I can see!
