It would be easier to tick those I would keep also.
For the record, Miley, Parillon, Ralph, GSM (if he wants to stay) Taylor, Collin and Hayes: after all we need a back-up keeper. Wind, also, as back-up.
The rest are not up to it, although KAF may yet come good.

Kendalls the only forward i chose to keep, and that would be as a good 4th choice striker whose energy could be effective as a 2nd half sub.
Reminds me of a less intimidating Powell. All running but no end product. Perhaps we don't play to his strengths. For me its change in Midfield and change in the forwards. Thats where the issue for me is. If we was getting tonked by 3 or more goals on a regular basis then i'd say defensive needs to improve, but we're not. We are drawing teams or going behind and then struggling to get back into the game (Solihull was a prime example)

Defensively i'd love us to somehow keep Golding if we could. Strikes me as a Kensdale style player who is comfortable bringing the ball out from the back, alongside either Taylor or Goodliffe (Another who I think we could keep in place of maybe Crowther but not one i'd break the budget for)

I'm looking at this from the other end of the spectrum.

I see a decent set of players there. And I have seen them perform well as a team.

Okay - I wouldnot keep all of them but I think a more pragmatic approach is evolution of the squad and not a total clear out.
Tend to agree. In my mind we need a few big additions down the spine - a proper striker who scores some bloody goals, a powerful midfielder with a bit about them, and a centre back who can really play with the ball at his feet. Golding can do this but doubt we afford him.

I wouldn’t mind seeing most of the current players remain as supporting acts.

As far as I can see majority of players are contracted to 2026 so unless we persuade them to leave by paying up their contract I really cant see that happening. Can see Waldron and Wood being released and unfortunately Bridge could go has he has been disappointing this season.Walker and Hopper offer very little but we are stuck with them.
As I have repeatedly said we need to find from somewhere a player that regularly finds the net which isn't easy.Plus a left sided player to replace Bridge

Ideally we'd keep Collin, Ralph, Taylor, Parrilon, Coker, Kendall and Gus and that's it. But I expect the same players and same outcomes next season

I chose seven to go leaving a squad of fourteen. Bring in better replacements who will be first choices and we will have a real chance of success next year.

KAF is a difficult one.

Do I see him as part of a title winning XI or squad? Compare him to some of the current midfielders Barnet have at their disposal: Hartigan, Chapman, Brunt & Glover. They are the quality that we need next season. Does KAF have that right now, (or next season even)? I’m not sure.

Agree. I’m not a fan of overhauls, especially given our league position. It’s just a case of upgrading in certain areas. A goalscoring forward like Cardwell and/or Pepple is a must and an attacking midfielder would be good. At the back if we can find another sweeper-type player like Lopata, Kensdale or Golding that would be a huge bonus.

I’d say goodbye to Hopper and Waldron. Loved the forner when he was previously here but this version is the equivalent of a Phil Brown signing. Waldron showed great promise initially but his injuries have hampered him. Walker is borderline. Maher needs to give him a kick up the backside in pre-season because he has the ability - see his goal against Fylde - and is decent in wide positions too.

We need upgrades on Gubbins and Crowther at the back but given how thin our defence is I’d keep both at the moment as I think they have potential.

Who knows, a full pre-season may provide a few surprises, especially if Miley and Parillon reach full strength.

Agreed.

That's why I wanted the vote to be carte blanche, as unfortunately it looks like we are going to be stuck with a number of bang average under performing players on contracts they never should of been given.

Sorry, but after everything that that group of players went through, the least they deserved was a new deal, and some security.

Whilst I do agree that some will be moved on in the summer, I have no issue whatsoever with those guys being offered new deals.

I do find it funny on SZ how one bad result, possibly two if you include the draw at Sutton, and the knives are well and truly out again for everyone and everyone needs to be replaced. Couple of wins, and we just need to tweak the squad.

Football fans, in general, are very reactionary. Win, and we are the bollocks, lose and everyone is useless. Doesn’t surprise me to see one or two reappear after a defeat, but didn’t see them during our unbeaten run, or even after individual results like the Oldham one for example.

A change of manager would shake up the playing squad. We think we know who our better players are, but some players who are central to our current team might become peripheral, and vice versa. The point has been made above - who in our current squad do you see as part of a championship-winning team - and the answer is very few. What we're certainly lacking is leaders on the pitch - players that will drag others to promotion by the force of their personality.

Ignoring contracts, I would move on Crowther, Wood, Walker, Waldron, and Kendall for sure. I'm a bit more on the fence about Gubbins and Hopper, but leaning towards moving them on also.

Barnet have already set the model.
They finished in the play offs last year, realised they didn't have the players.
Signed 12 in the summer.
I'd love us to do something similar.
I'd keep a handful of current squad.
Do you have any idea how many have been regulars this season?

I've made my selections, 6 in total, but then I wondered what I would add to the squad to make it competitive. First, there would be a new, experienced tall commanding keeper with a big gob on him suitable for organising the back line. Then I'd throw in a ball playing centre half that wasn't afraid to leave his mark on a player, again. had a big gob. and liked chipping in with a goal or two. I'd probably search for a NL ready Timlin, and finally a forward who liked to score goals, was a selfish sod in the box, and brave enough to stick his head in where it may get hurt. Voila, my team spine would be replenished. I genuinely believe that those sorts of players are available, and I also think that the rest of the squad would react positively.

The sole reason I've stayed away from SZ since Saturday until now, just so depressing seeing people moan all the time. Surely there is more important things to life than just constantly Discussing on an online forum.
