Ok, we all know the current club position is the pits and all are looking to our Chairman to say something to give us hope rather than perhaps the 'lack of real substance' platitudes of late

So, if you were him what would you say to the real you to make you feel at least a little bit better?

Now, be realistic. Assume our Chairman isn't going anywhere and assume there are no rolls of notes stashed under his syrup. And maybe assume that the new ground will with a fair wind happen at some point (my own thought on that is he must still genuinely have good reason to believe it will otherwise why would he hang around unless he has sadistic leanings).

Be as brief or as long as you like. I accept that there is so much we don't really know so you'll have to make a few guesses at things. Just put yourself in his shoes and give it a go, you can even add a pic of a corner flag if you like.

Just be honest, don't try to hide the issues by constantly making promises that he knows are unattainable.

I ****ed up, i'm sorry.

Mmmm, you've not quite read the brief MK. Agree it would be interesting if he said that, though it still doesn't give us any hope. I think my point on all this in trying to be serious is that the situation is so difficult I really don't know what he could say to give us hope at the moment so I'm interested in what other folk view would work for them (there are plenty of other threads taking the ****)

The council/global financial crises/Peter Clarke is what dun it.

Better?

Not really. You've set a low bar. I think I'd rather hear from the real Ron.

Maybe no one can do it or maybe no one can be bothered or maybe someone is having a sensible go at doing this but will need time to pen it as it won't be easy to write.

I aim to please Mr Grumpypants. ?

'Dear loyal fans,
When i appointed Sol & his team, i said we had to achieve financial gymnastics to get them appointed. Because of that & no FA Cup run, our cash flow budget regretfully didn't materialise as we had anticipated. & saw us experience unexpected problems during the Christmas period.

You would not believe the hours i put in for our club, & the frustrations we experience on a daily basis regarding injuries & other business matters, which are too sensitive to repeat here.
We expect to get positive news on our Fossetts Farm project very soon. Despite this season not having gone as we had hoped, with your continued loyal support which is appreciated by all of us, the future will bring many exciting times for all of us'.

That's the kind of message i'd expect from RM, nothing else. Maybe as an added sweetener for next season, throw in free coach travel to Morecambe, Carlisle & Barrow!.

Agree it might be what we'd expect, but my point was, YOU ARE RON, write something that THE REAL YOU (and the rest of us fans) would LIKE to realistically hear.

It ain't easy

Btw, anyone looked at rons wiki lately? ?

Dear Fellow Shrimpers,
And now the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case of which I'm certain.
I've lived a life that's full,
I travelled each and every highway,
And more, much more than this,
I did it Ron's Way.
Regrets, I've had a few,
But then again too few to mention
Did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption
Planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this,
I did it Ron's Way.
Yes there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall
And did it Ron's Way.
I've loved,
I've laughed and cried,
I've had my fill, my share of losing!!
And now as tears subside
I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say not in a shy way
Oh no, oh no not me
I did it Ron's Way
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows
I took the blows -
And did it Ron's way!
UTB, love Ron x

" The plans for the new stadium are coming along nicely, and we should have some exciting news very shortly".

Dear Shrimpers

The past two years have been particularly difficult , the club is still spend more than it brings in , and historically this has been underwritten by the group in the way of intercompany loans etc. Unfortunately the further delays and costs surrounding Fossets Farm and the subsequent Roots hall development have meant that these loans have become available less frequently.
We appointed Chris Powell with the belief that it would bring about an upturn in fortunes and increase our "on the pitch " income with higher gates and maybe a cup run, unfortunately we suffered a horrendous spell of injuries and these hopes failed to materialise.
The subsequent appointment of Kevin Bond was, in hindsight, an unmitigated disaster which started with great intentions and promises, all of which failed to be realised.
The appointment of Sol was an astute move, he and his team are very keen to impress and develop in management and , as such, have committed to this role for little reward.
The decision was made, given the appalling start to the season and the subsequent cash flow issues, some of which can be put on a highly unfortunate fixture problem, to write this season off and rebuild next year in League two. Obviously we it would have been irresponsible to shout this from the rooftops at the time and Sol did a sterling job of deflecting questions to that effect, but I now feel it is time my cards were laid on the table.
We have cut our costs so that we will be able to ensure that future financial commitments (HMRC, Wages) can be met for the foreseeable future, but, this is where the supporters can really help, we still need matchday income , it is vital that our supporters attend the remaining home game in numbers , renew their Season tickets when they go on sale. This will give us a financial pick up into the important rebuilding period in the close season.

For my part , I will be pressing for the FF planning application to be presented to SBC and approved before the start of the new season, which will give some leverage for obtain future investment in the club. Once we have got this, the planning application for the Roots Hall development can proceed , and when passed should provide further stability.

The remainder of this season is vital, not only for the stability and rebuilding of the club, but for the development of the wonderful bunch of Academy players who have stepped up to the plate the past weeks and shown how invaluable Ricky and his team are to Southend United.

I am sure you will understand the reasons for not making announcements like this before and Thank you one and all for your continued support

Ron
