Your Cricket Club - Who do you play for?

southend4ever

I used to play a little.
Hello All,

Just interested to see who on SZ plays cricket and which team you play for? It would be interested to see if any of us might have played against each other in recent seasons.

I play for Billericay.

I haven't played cricket for years unfortunately, i was pretty decent years ago and once took 4-11 off 3 overs including an all bowled hat-trick

It was only a works game to be fair and the oppo weren't all that but even so

Last week you were a Kent pro. Do you just play for Billericay on your days off?

Last week my mate made a post under my name! He is the same lad that dated Ron Martin's niece and wanted to come onto the site to have a look for any news about Ron. Yes I did pre-warn him there wasn't a positive.

Cricket is the one sport I wish I had mastered at some point in my youth. That I didn't is a permanent source of regret. Still, I enjoyed scoring when a youngster, and I enjoy burbling about it even more now.

:)

Bring on the summer (even if I'm a bit sad that I won't get to cover the Champion County game this year...)

:'(

Used to play at Wickford before a dodgy back, and a case of the yips, curtailed my career.

Took over 1,000 wickets for the club, only the 6th person (and the quickest in terms of age) to do that in the clubs 123 history.

Anyone heading over to Amsterdam in April to watch essex good idea for a lash up!? I am keen.

BB - Lee Deller is the legend of that club in my eyes.

Dells is a bit of a FTB. Good cricketer undoubtedly, but won't play for the 1's, so his record should be viewed accordingly.

Also not a WCC legend compared to likes of Mark Goodard, Mark Evans, Nigel Finch, Mark Everitt etc.

A decent career with Leigh Juniors, Old Southendians & Southchurch CC from 4th team through to 1sts in one season then University of Sussex.....not bad for someone with just a solid forward defensive and a square cut. After uni I just couldnt give the time to spending all of my saturday in the field, especially if I was out first innings for a low score, so not played competitively for ages, except for some evening Cricket a few years ago. Nowdays probably prefer watching general cricket to football

Looking forward to captaining the overs in the SZFC unders v overs cricket match though this summer....

I think it is a great shames in this country that few people actively play cricket.....either recreationally or in the more organised format. I went to a school that would be considered one of the better cricket schools in the area but we still would only play about 5 matches a year......, and a lot of my friends who went to other schools are massive cricket fans but barely played at all and therefore never even found out if they had the aptitude for it or not.

School, a few games for Southend CC, a few games of village cricket recently. Must admit I went off it when I last played. I'm a leg spinner who can't bat.

Pegasus & Corringham in the mid-essex league. I'm certain someone on here plays for Hatfield Peverall, judging by their number plate. Whoever you are, I cleaned bowled you for next to nothing last year on our way to bowling you out for 69 (my favourite number). If you're lucky I'll let you out of my pocket this season. he he
