Bentley takes 20%, the agent taking another 20% thats 40% of the transfer money already gone.

If that makes it unlikely for Bentley to turn down it also makes it likely we would.

No,the agent takes his cut from Dan's package, this assumes Dan has not asked for any move because if he has then his cut from the money will be zero but he will still obtain a big signing on fee.

the fiction you get on some of these threads :hilarious:

Noticed the thread title has changed to £1m! any source backing this up?
Chris Phillips said on Twitter that it was £1m, think it was posted on here a couple of pages back.

Normal transfer deal, his agent will have 10/20% of any fee too,oh and don't forget Dan's signing fee.

You're talking absolute bollocks.

It is not "normal" for a League Two goalkeeper to demand 20% of any transfer fee payable for him under any circumstances.

Agent fees don't come out of the transfer fee, they're payable separately by whichever club the agent is acting on behalf.

A player's signing on fee is, also, separate to any transfer fee.

This isn't Football Manager.

Doesnt matter if his value does rise, he will be out of contract and it will go to tribunal and we wont do well out of that.

Dont worry we will not let him go for less than £2

I think it will make a difference - If his performances, and valuation rise, then that would also be reflected in any fee that a tribunal arrived at. I suspect it wouldn't be what we wanted, but it would surely go up from, say, what it would be now if it went to a tribunal.

Problem is, if we're near the bottom of Div One and we're shipping goals, his valuation will soon drop, aswell.

There is very little chance Bentley, who signed a contract as a youth player will have clause stating he gets any of the transfer fee.

He will get a signing on fee, that will be paid by Hull or whoever buys him.

Your wrong,

The agent will receive a slice of the players wages, transfer fee, signing on fee,and any add on included in future payments, the agent acts to get the best deal for his client and possibly the buying club may also pay the agent an amount outside of the contract.

I'm just wondering why the club secretary is doing the club's transfer dealings ...

I presume we’re talking about Bentley’s agent here, who’ll liaise with the buying club. The agent will get his x% of Bentley’s deal, but none of that is payable by the selling club whatsoever, least of all will it be deducted from any transfer fee owed to us. That’ll be owed by Bentley to the agent for his services.

His agent is crap then !

Yes, that's it. It's Bentley's proven and FA licenced agent, usually with a legal background, that is wrong here and not yourself.

Southend will not be liable for any fee toward Dan and his agent,I was answering Jam's thought that Dan would have no clauses in his current deal, which if true then his agent has been useless BUT we all know these agents are NOT useless.

If there is any truth in this rumour & the £1mio was up front , then i think Ron is crazy to turn it down. Bentley is sheer quality we all know that but every player has his price level + to be realistically fighting to be 1st team keeper at one of the likely top clubs in the Championship is a fabulous opportunity for Dan. Ok Hull is a really awful place to live but on a professional level it would be a good club for him. Especially as Steve Bruce will no doubt play his hapless son Alex at centre back so Bentley will get plenty of chances to show off his shotstopping skills !!!!

Ron -- remember Mohsni , McCormack , Royce etcetc ... turn down good money at your peril.

If Bentley was to get 20% of the transfer fee then we obviously are liable as thats money out of our pocket.

Bentley will have plenty of clauses in his contract, thats what a contract is. He wont have one that says he gets 20% of the transfer though, that would have been ridiculous for us to put in.
