Latest Rumours January transfer window

Have we not learned anything?

Injury prone 33 year old and probably high earner.

I’d be happier knowing if it were a short term deal or even a pay as you play type deal like Halford is on but judging by the comments made by Northampton fans, they seem quite desperate to keep hold of him.

We already have 3 wingers. Do we need a 4th?
Probably- all depends on preferred formation- ours seems to be anything but two up front.
4231, 433, 4141

Wide in a 3 up top or behind the main striker is Holmes' sweet spot. Of course traditional wide player in a 4 also. So if you are always going to be playing two wide players then a min 4 are required to cover bench & injuries.

We need to coax Barry Corr out of retirement, it just makes sense on so many levels.
A joke by the way, but no dafter than people suggesting Mohsni comes back.
I agree we need a striker who can stick the ball in the net.

Cant do any harm in signing holmes to the end of the season. He does bring quality but hasnt had great luck with injuries. Could be good bit of business!

Its a tough one. In our position the only way we will get proven players of L1 quality who can both score and is if there is something else deriving the move- location, injury troubles, unfinished business, a mix of all three.

A 100% proven fit Holmes who was playing regularly the last couple of seasons would be way way out our grasp. If he lived or was from anywhere north of Watford probably same.

If the deal is manageable and there is reasonable confidence on fitness at our level it might be an opportunity difficult to turn down. Who knows. He has at least been playing of late so should at least be match fit?

Would be happy with Holmes and if we can keep hold of Taylor, Olyinka, keep Macca, White and Halford as well then feel we are only one or two strikers away from a solid squad

Isn't he a southend fan? Or have I got that 1 wrong.

Think hes way past it sadly , 5 games in last two years. Tried to get fit to play at Gillingham last year and Northampton previously couldnt make it at either, didnt play at all for Gillingham, they also wrote similar positive things to us thinking it just might work out, Also didnt happen at Oxford prior to that because of injuries, how many examples do we need? thats 3 loans , none worked

But good player in his day without doubt

Holmes is/was obviously a good player but if true it would concern me how many players in the 32-plus age bracket we'll end up with. Already got Demi, Macca, Halford & White. Many more and we'll be able to put a side out in the local veterans league.

According to Soccerbase he has made 11 appearances in the last two months alone.

replace the spurs loan player .And bring in someone who knows how to assist the team rather than stand still and see what happens
