  1. DoDTS

How our Parents/Grandparents coped with the War.

Here we are it’s DoDtS’s summer saga. Totally non football related, but my attempt to understand how and what our forebears had to endure through the war in a series of extracts from the Southend Standards of the times. Not everybody’s cup of tea but if your not interested then don’t read it...

Tour De France - Mark Cavendish

Right, I know absolutely nothing about cycling (never even passed my cycling proficiency test at Earls Hall.....) but obviously know of the Tour de France and it being a huge event, and have heard of the likes of Lance Armstrong, Sean Kelly, Eddie Merx etc. I know there are a few of you on here...
  3. Another Gun Incident

Cavendish Gardens --- the posh end of Fairfax Drive, police taped off as allegedly someone has been shot. A witness lady of about 80 said it was drugs, and gun crime is to be expected along the Seafront like the other day but "it is posh here --- not what we expect on a quiet Sunday morning."
  4. Spoty 2010

Seeing as SZ was down when the nominees were announced, I thought a thread was in order. I'd be happy with either Cavendish, Swann or McDowell winning, to be honest. Cavendish deserves an accolade for his achievements and Swann has quite rightfully earned his place amongst the best spin bowlers...

    2010 TdF

Anyone looking forward to this year's tour? Loads of British riders in it this year, but British interest will centre around Wiggins in the GC and Cavendish in the sprint stages/green jersey battle. The likes of David Millar and Geraint Thomas could pick off a stage victory and both are on...

    Tour de France

It's that time of year again! Are many SZers going to be following this year's Grande Boucle? High hopes for Mark Cavendish in the points classification - hopefully he can become only the second Brit (after Robert Millar) to win one of the big three jerseys. As for general classification...

    Tour de France

Surprised a thread's not been started yet for this year's Grande Boucle, I know there's a good few cycling fans on the Zone. So first up, who's going to win? Evans is a worthy favourite, but I could no more cheer on an Aussie to success than Col Ewe. So I've had a speculative each-way bet on...

    Excellent News for ORM

From the Sun: IT seems blondes don’t have all the fun – EMMA BUNTON has admitted she hasn’t had sex in NINE MONTHS. And the former SPICE GIRL wasn’t in luck after a night on the pull at London club No5 Cavendish Square. Leaving alone, she revealed: “It’s been a while, I know – I’m too bloody...
