Winners of Winners
A hairdressing salon, a children's day nursery and Southend United football club are just three of the finalists announced for the Essex in Boom! Winners of Winners business awards.
Panels of judges have finished their deliberations for the competition's five `Winners of Winners' and three `Spirit of Enterprise' categories.
The varied organisations vying for top honours include the Witham team of the Feathers Salon Group, Nannas Day nurseries of Clacton on sea and Col******r and the Roots Hall League one high flyers who qualify in the Spirit of Enterprise section.
Winners of Winners are drawn from winners of previous business awards while the Spirit of Enterprise award goes to businesses that have worked with young people encouraging them to be enterprising.
Among the competition judges are both sponsors of the event and independent experts. One of the judges, Jill Vail, customer care manager for sponsor BAA Stansted said: "The approaches to customer care were all quite different, and it was a delightful process, meeting some very interesting people from diverse organisations, from the voluntary sector through to children's parties. There's clearly a wealth of innovative business ideas in the county."
Essex in Boom! is a campaign celebrating what's good about doing business in Essex by organising events, conferences, competitions and awards ceremonies to promote and raise awareness of Essex as a place to live and do business.
The overall winners will be announced in a ceremony on November 18 at the Five Lakes resort near Maldon
