Being called up by England after 3 Premier League starts

If all fit:

Hart; Shaw, Smalling, Stones/Cahill, Clyne; Carrick; Henderson, Wilshere/Alli; Sterling, Kane, Rooney.

In the squad: Butland, Forster; Stones/Cahill, Jagielka, Gibbs; Dier, Wilshere/Alli, Barkley, Delph; Walcott, Sturridge, #23

Left the last seat on the plane up for grabs. There's a few players on the fringe - Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Lallana, Vardy and Lingard to name a few. I also really like Ward-Prowse, and you can't deny Welbeck's international record if he can get himself fully fit in time.

Be a shame for Vardy not to get a spot.

Woy might not be worried if Milner is in the starting line-up, but I would be:'(

Keith Dublin was also versatile and I'd like to think he wasn't in the mix-up for an England call-up.

Personally I defer to people with more experience. I would say that all the managers at Leeds, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool, England U16, England U17, England U19, England U20, England U21 and the full England team are better qualified to judge Milner than you and me, and for that reason I would suggest he's better than you give him credit for.

Unfortunately? I bet you've already got your party planned for England's exit in the Euros

Good enough to qualify from our group in the Euros, perhaps. Not for much else, unfortunately.

Plenty of european coaches believe England are producing a very good team that could do well at the euros and really challenge at the next world cup. Klopp confirmed this the other week during an interview. Can't deny we have some bright talent emerging.

Be interested to see what people’s opinions on this are now with just seven/eight games left of the domestic season.

A lot’s happened since that last list. Shaw’s crocked, Stones and Clyne have gone off the boil, Carrick and Henderson have been poor, as has Sterling. Meanwhile Vardy’s done enough to warrant inclusion, Lingard’s performing well for United, Rashford’s emerged as a surprise contender and there’s a couple of names that just weren’t on the radar whatsoever.

I’d say my 23, as it stands:

Goalkeepers: Hart, Butland and Forster.

Defenders: Smalling, Jagielka, Stones, Cahill, Rose, Clyne, Walker, Bertrand/Gibbs/Shaw.

Midfielders: Carrick, Henderson, Alli, Barkley, Lingard, Sterling, Dier.

Forwards: Kane, Rooney, Vardy, Welbeck.

There’s 22, with either another midfielder or forward to take. I think Oxlade-Chamberlain has played himself out of contention now and needs a summer to get his head right, Wilshere won’t be ready and there’s really no need to take Milner if we’re playing a 4-3-3 system. Sturridge and Walcott are the most likely options, but Walcott’s having a shocking time of it at the moment, and I can’t see Sturridge as a reliable option.

If Rashford continues his form, there’ll be plenty of pressure from the media for Hodgson to take him.

Milner is one of the most versatile and disciplined players around. I can't see Roy not taking him.

Yeah I think Milner probably makes the plane due to his versatility and 'reliable-ness'. Maybe not on merit, but a useful player to have on the bench.

Otherwise I agree quite a bit with ESB. Carrick played quite well yesterday but I don't think he's got the legs for the Euros really. I'd quite like to see Danny Drinkwater get a little look.

Pretty incredible that we're looking at potentially 4 Spurs players in the starting XI (Alli, Rose, Walker, Kane).

I'd expect Sturridge to go if he gets a few more goals and stays fit.

But the one thing he can't do is function in a 4-3-3, which Hodgson has already said he expects to play during the tournament. The three central midfielders all have to be specialists rather than Milner's jack of all trait, and he sure as **** isn't quick enough to sit either side of the lone forward.

I'd suggest in a tight game that's going the distance and we have a narrow lead, I'd imagine Milner being quite useful at playing a tighter 433. We'd be lopsided, but at least he can track back and defend, rather than Lindgard/Sterling et al.

Traditionally we only take 7 defenders and have a centre-back (Stones? Jones? Can Dier play there?) cover right-back to allow an extra midfielder/attacker.

I think Woy will want more pace, although maybe that's Lingard who I've never seen play.

I'm also sure he'll take Sturridge who's done next to nothing on the international stage in his career and who seems to have been largely injured the last few seasons.

He also loves Liverpool players so Sturridge, Milner and Lallana can continue the Anfield tradition of underperforming on the world stage.

What's happened to Fabian Delph?

So which player is going to get a tournament-threatening injury during this international break?

I'm going for Kane or Barkley.

In your opinion. IIRC Roy has played Milner every time he's had the opportunity. Mr. Versatile will almost certainly be in the squad.
