Question Covid vaccine passes

That's the first thing I thought when I read this. You'll have more luck mining for Gold than finding soap at RH.

"That's life boy" :)

Seeing as the IRA's 'dirty' protest attracted world wide news back in the day. Then maybe this is the way forward for all of us who want to protest against Ron.

Wait, are you Chris Witty?

No, thankfully. Try listening to other scientists and doctors, not the ones who are on the BBC every day spreading fear and demanding more restrictions.

Notice how the scientists concluded straight away that omicron is more infectious, but are still reluctant to say whether it's more or less severe despite all the evidence pointing to it being less severe. Wonder why that is.

Asked my son who lives in NY, the current feeling in America re Omicron. He said the scientists so far aren't ringing alarm bells about it.
Reason being, they are of the current opinion that symptoms are a lot less severe than the other variants. Guess time will tell?.

I wonder how you explain the UK's figures for covid infection are so much higher than in the majority of EU 27 countries'.
Population is a factor.... London is usually a hub because its so packed and then filters outwards, containing a higher population than Australia!! The underground is certainly a breeding ground ....

96,000+ new cases today, yeah, that's pretty fearful.

Does that count people that go for a 2nd PCR test to see if they can end their isolation period.

A friend of mine has it and has booked another OCR test for Wednesday to see. Not sure what variant he has got but he's been off work for 2 days (and we've been working from home)

Agreed but here in Spain while absolute numbers are given out on the TV news (as in the UK) it's usually possible to get figures for the number of infections per 100,000 (with a little bit of digging) which gives a basis of comparison.

The R rate (rate of infection) for Omicron in the UK is currently between 4/5 so it's much more imnfectious than Delta (peak of 2).We just don't know how severe the effects might be, -we're talking about a new strain of the virus which was only discovered in SA a month or so ago.Inervitably hospitalistations in the UK (and elsewhere) will increase.

Annoys me how this country is all for listening to the modelling dome by SAGE but refuses to listen to the real world data coming from South Africa
A lot of policy depends on what experts they have available in the civil service. It seems the current ones err too much on the side of lockdowns and restrictions that destroy lives and livelihoods while they sit cosy WFH with a comfortable income. Look at the Christmas cancellations for example.

Also a general statement for this thread, I'm glad to see how people can have an actual conversation about this stuff. Compared to last year this is a whole lot more civilised.

It’s nothing to do with experts it’s how the politicians interpret their advice. Anyway Michael Gove had enough of the experts before Brexit and that’s worked out well

Times reporting that ministers are considering a "2 week" (which will no doubt be longer than 2 weeks) post-Christmas lockdown. If they do I can't see compliance being very high compared to the last one.
