On long journey home, was thinking of who was man of the match. Back 4 were superb, midfield struggled in 1st half and Corr not getting much joy, then down to 10 men we started playing a passing game and they all looked great, Straker running to cause problem, Corr pulling the Portsmouth defence apart, Timlin, Atkinson and Laird when he came on were brilliant. Prosser, Coker White and Bentley did well when Portsmouth came at us desperate to get back in the game.
The atmosphere was fantastic and the last 20 minutes watching Southends 10 men driving forward determined to get a win will live long in my memory.
On reflection Barry Corr deserved the Man of the Match for me, unless you can give it to those 770 magnificent fans who outsung Pompey.

You were saying?

While we were playing that dreadfully negative line up we got away with it. Portsmouth should of had a few more. After the sending off we actually went more attacking. We were getting the ball out wide a lot quicker and running at them. Don't think Brown will use an as defensive line up again unless forced to.
