Pubs 4th July

Those planning a trip to the Broker do provide feedback as that’s my local. I feel they’ll get it right. I’ll be avoiding the Elms, for sure.
Broker is open today but apparently shut on Tuesday (bit random, assume they must be shut tomorrow as well. Was going to go on Tuesday with my bro in law and he e-mailed them and they replied saying they're shut). Any recommendations for a pub in Leigh for Tuesday that might be showing football? Was thinking maybe Sarah Moore.

Had 1 pint outside of Chinnery's today at 11.30am just for the novelty. Went early to avoid it being packed and was pretty empty. Was nice to get a draught beer down me after all these months!

For a nice quiet pub you could try the Harry on London Road. They’ve been open all weekend. Otherwise, the Sarah Moore as you say is a good shout or Ye Olde Smack in the old town (think it’s opening tomorrow but no idea if they’re showing football. They always did pre-lockdown).

We went along for our 12-4pm slot. Got there about 12.30 and we were some of the first.

Had to provide contact details on arrival and were given a number fob which is now ours... next time we go we have to show the number and save having to provide contact details again. We were also made to sanitise our hands.

Table service only and given that is was relatively quiet we always got served really quickly.

Also, the tables were numbered and there was a seating plan on the wall... each tale area was either isolated or screened off.

One way system marked on the floor and the mens loos had the urinal sectioned off in part to ensure spacing.

Overall it felt like a quiet Sunday afternoon beer. It was really well done and I knew we could rely upon the Broker to get it right.

I think their opening hours are being announced later this week, but like you I was surprised they're not opening on Tuesday...

One other thing, yesterday they said to try and always book ahead to ensure a spot.

Spent a pleasant couple of hours in the garden of our local on Saturday. It was highly organised,, the signage was spot on, great service, lovely beer. Nice to see the locals again. Hope this all works out nationally, and that the few idiots don't wreck it for the majority.

There was little social distancing in Leigh yesterday.

Just the usual shirts off heavy drinking. I saw a few people being escorted by security guards from the old town for poor behaviour and I was only cycling through.

Really appreciate that feedback and on that basis I’ll think about heading there soon for a pint. The Broker is a great pub and the locals are generally well behaved. I’ll be steering clear of the old town and places like the Peterboat and the Billet for a while...though if anyone reading this ventures down there, or went there at the weekend, feedback is welcome! ?

Looking to go out in town tomorrow for a few drinks.

I've seen quite a few pubs still shut. The pubs made such a song and dance about going out of business and yet so many are now allowed to open and haven't. I was surprised to see the plough in westcliff and the Alex in town shut.

Looking to go somewhere in Leigh for a pint tonight which ideally is showing the football as well. Seems like the options are very limited.

Patrons in this neck of the woods seem to have been sensible and are exercising social distancing, so all seems good at present.

The plough, the Alex and the railway (in town) all still shut.

Drive past the elms tonight. Absolutely heaving and a ridiculous queue to get in. All bunched up together with little or no distancing.

Popped to the Broadway the other day which was very well managed.
