Rangers v Zenit St. Petersberg

Still does not explain why the term Hun is used towards Rangers, Tims is used due to a Catholic gang leader Tim Malloy also this term is used for Celtic Supporters rather than a team nickname.

From looking into this it seems that Celtic fans were called this upto the 50's then suddenly in the 70's Gers fans were referred to as Huns, also seems Hearts supporters have also been called this by Celtic supporters so indicating a sectarian reference.

If anyone knows the reason why Celtic like to refer to Rangers as the Hun?

apparently (according to rangersfansvcelticfans.com)

hun
(from the word 'Hanoverian' - protestant monarchy from Hanover, Germany who came to the British throne in 1714 with King George 1st, which in turn led to the Jacobite rebellion)

Beat me to it Pubey, I'd found exactly the same article! Must admit, I had forgotten why - was told ages ago in a pub but Guinness does funny things to my memory
