Scottish Independence

Scottish independence - Yes or No?

  • Total voters
    34
  • Poll closed .
needless to say Salmond is in denial saying there are "a few “idiots” in both campaigns but added: “We have to remember 99.9% of participants in this campaign have behaved impeccably". The man lies and lies and lies. He makes our MPs seem the pillars of rectitude. Virtually all the intimidation is from the Yes voters and Salmond hass done mothing to tell them to stop. He is absolute poison.

I've just read that a lot of pubs in Scotland are going to be allowed to stay open long in to the night tomorrow.

Asking. For. Trouble.

Betting-wise, YES has moved out to 5.1 on Betfair, with NO at 1.23.

I've never had anything but contempt for Milliband and have never made a secret of it but even I am pretty disgusted at the way he was harassed yesterday in Scotland.

If this is the future for Scotland then let them have it. I wonder what the general feeling would have been if this had been English Nationalists. SNP= Scottish Nasty Party.

reap what you sow as far as I'm concerned - blames all of the countries ills on the tories (conveniently forgetting we have a coalition) perhaps the scots have longer memories than your average labour voter?
I really want them to vote yes I really do. Then we can see their socialist vision burst once and for all. I for one will be screaming from the roof tops in protest if a penny of my money is used to bail them out. You hate the English? go **** yourselves then and leave!

Panelbase also going YES 48% NO 52%, so that's four polls in a row now with that score (each one discounting the dinnae kens).

Latest betting, with the Betfair book close to £10m, is YES 5.3, NO 1.22

Wonder whether a No vote will see the creation of a sort of SRA. Some of the YES camp have had their taste of intimidation and violence and like it. If they fail to get their way they might wish to continue.....

I hope so, would like to see a Scottish Bobby Sands give up the ghost for a deep fried Mars Bar.

The Guardian have been very good throughout this issue, IMO. a number of very good, even-handed pieces throughout.

Wash your mouth out! Next thing you'll be telling me the Mail has been calm and measured!!!

confirms my views. I won't go into details but I've had to block 3 relatives by marriage on Facebook (all Yes supporters). I said at the beginning of the campaign that I thought the Scots would vote "No" as although they are all mad they are not insane. I'm beginning to have my doubts. I think you'll find generally those in work will vote No and those on benefits will vote yes. Expect an influx of Scottish talent if there is a Yes vote. I cetainly would not want to live there under Salmond. I've always supported Scotland but the events of the last few months has completed changed my view. Doubt I'll willingly return though family commitments will probably mean I'll have to.

Mind you a couple of stroies tickled me and showed the level of Nat paranoia.

"Furious Scottish nationalists have accused Sky News reporter Kay Burley of calling a Yes campaigner a 'knob' live on air.

A video of the alleged incident appears to show the anchor calling someone a knob, but it's unclear what side of the referendum debate the 'knob' was on, if indeed the person was a political campaigner at all.
But that didn't stop nationalists immediately launching scathing abuse of Burley on social media, accusing her of being biased against camp 'Yes," and calling her "disgusting.""

The other was a complaint to the BBC who showed an episode of dad's Army at the weekend. In it Private Fraser (the very very Scottish actor John Lawrie) took over from Capt Mainwaring and made a hash of it. The Nats were squealing about BBC bias. I can't find a w***ker emoticon unfortunately.

To be fair Kay Burley is a hideous, odious woman. She's apologised for it, so it's probably fair to say she did call a Yes campaigner a knob. Yet another piece of unprofessionalism from that bitter hag.

I hope the Scots have the courage to vote for independence but I don't think they will.

Hate to do a Barna on everyone here, but I thought this piece in The Guardian was sensible and measured. I can only speak from afar as I've not been in Scotland during the campaign, but the YES lot do seem to have a sinister side.

So what's your meaning behind posting that clip? Are you suggesting that, that's how the Scottish feel about their self's or was it the bit about the English being described as ******s. I can guess what your meaning is.
