Yes he is. He's said many times that he grew up supporting Southend. He went to my old school, Belfairs in Leigh. He said he was always at Roots Hall watching as a kid and a young man.
 
We won't ever see the likes of Barrett again in these days of modern football, short contracts and the ever increasing managerial merry go round!!!

If he isn't "one of us" then I don't know who ever could be

A true genuine legend who bleeds blue and really is Mr Southend
 
Whats the latest on the banner? Would be a great time to unveil this Saturday after the contract extension and us playing against Gills.
