total disgrace. Revell will go on as Hooper, Macdonald etc and score many goals.
!
150k for 4 goals. £37, 500 per goal. Hopefully we recoup some of the money in January.
This isn't the point. The point is the shocking public treatment of one of the club's players and the blatant lying to cover up the fact that he's gone because of the financial situation.

True, that isn't the point of this thread but it is quite an alarming stat.
FWIW, I am a fan of Revs and disappointed to see him leave. He certainly doesn't deserve to be practically abused by Geoff. You don't often see statements like this made by chief executives, particularly to one of your most loyal players.
You can't be disappointed by Barnard. The others yes, but Barnard has been our most prolific goalscorer since Eastwood left. Yes he's injury prone but when he's fit he guarantees goals and he's started this season on fire. Goalscorers are hard to find at this level.
Dear Mr Stoker
The statement is not just based on my opinion but a consensus of the management and in fact despite what you say is also the opinion of a number of supporters.
Alex cost £150,000 and scored just 4 goals in 13 months having taken into account the period in which he was injured. His scoring average was 1 in 10.7 matches and that level of ratio is not going to get the Club promoted.
No one here relishes the idea of moving a player on but harsh decisions have to be made if a player does not make the grade. There seems little point in keeping a player who does not perform when he may improve under some other management regime. To that extent we often do the player a favour. If he improves to the extent that the Manager would have him back then fine but the simple reason he has been put out on loan is as above.
Regards
Err sorry.....
How exactly is 4 goals in 45 odd games considered to be anything less than a poor return. We are meant to have paid £150,000 for him and he has delivered a paultry 4 goals.
I dont think he can classed as anything other than a total flop. I would be interested to know how his record compares to that off other flops such as Graeme Jones, Billy Paynter, Matt Harrold etc etc. If its much better I am amazed.
Dear Mr. King,
Following your comments regarding Alex Revell on the news story regarding his loan to Swindon, I feel an apology at the very least is in order. The comments you made regarding the player were nothing short of disgraceful considering his commitment to the club and performances following a broken leg, an injury some players cannot even return from.
Your comment that, "He was signed by the Football Club to deliver which he has not done and that is why he is moving on" is at the very best, an overly harsh opinion to publish within an official statement on behalf of the club and, at the very worst, a damning indictment of the unprofessional attitude you and/or the club take to business in the player market.
What kind of image is that portraying to potential signings for the club? That we'll bring you into the club, but if you fail to deliver or meet the expectations of the management, regardless of fan opinion, you'll be moved on and dealt insults by the Chief Executive in an open, public forum.
Your belief that "Alex Revell has failed to live up to expectations," maybe your own opinion, but I can guarantee it is an opinion not shared by the majority of fans. Alex Revell has been nothing but committed to the club itself since his arrival and has suffered appalling luck in his injury problems, suffering a hernia before being allowed to settle at the club and a broken leg last season. This kind of treatment was not even reserved for the likes of Luke Guttridge or Nicky Bailey, who both left the club showing on commitment or loyalty whatsoever.
May I also take this time to remind you that your comment "Others may fall into the same category as we move forwards and rebuild the squad" also requires the club to embark on something that seems alien to the club recently, the act of actually purchasing a player, for the policy to work. Alex Revell's unnecessary departure leaves our already worryingly thin squad even shorter in numbers.
I await your response and, rightly, apology to Alex Revell.
Regards,

Thank **** for that - a bit of reality, just a shame it's from a fairweather fan who thought Scott Forbes would "play for England one day."
Revs was clearly a very nice bloke but his record here and at Brighton would suggest he's a donkey that would struggle to score down York Road. Not impressed with Geoffrey King passing judgement to the media like that but factually speaking, he has got it right.
