Shocking. By the sounds of his brother's "defence" evidence, he may as well have appeared as a prosecution witness. Hopefully will send out a message to footballers that you can't behave like that and be above the law, but I seriously doubt it will make more than a small piece in the nationals.
So the girl freely admitted to getting into bed with one of the men........

I'm sorry, yes, he's been a very silly man but I think the girl should take a long hard look at herself.

If I was Tes Bramble, I wouldn't pick a soup off the floor in the showers!! Good things that he not a very good looking guy, anotherwise he would get raped by fat smelly turk bloke!
You think I'm being unnecessarily harsh on one of my own sex? Well, I'd ask the females in your life how many of them when they were 19, would have accepted an offer to go up to a hotel room from a bloke they'd literally just met. I bet there wouldn't be many that would.Yep... it's the girl who's been raped that needs to take a long hard look at herself. The rapist however has been "very silly" - nice!!

She knew the guy she went with was part of a group that she met in the VIP section at this club ergo if he was in the hotel then it was logical the others would be. In her position I certainly wouldn't have gone in on my own, if her friend hadn't have been so drunk she had to take her home, then that would have been a different story. I also question the fact that she woke up to find him on top of her, she must have been an incredibly deep sleeper! I also like the bit that she "grabbed her hair extensions" - priorities, eh?Yes, I do feel you are being very harsh. I also feel you are somewhat wrong here..... Many many teenagers, both blokes and girls, pull on nights out and have one night stands with people they've just met (or at least that's certainly how I remember it as a teenager!)- right or wrong it's a fact of life. That doesn't mean that a girl who goes off with a bloke she's just met is asking to wake up to find his mate having a go - regardless of whether you feel she should be in the hotel or not (and I can kinda see your point here) she's the victim of rape - end of story.
To be honest, I think I get your point about her putting herself in a vulnerable position - just don't agree that this means she is in any way responsible for happened. A court has decided today she is the victim of rape - she deserves sympathy not a lecture.
Thing is, there are far too many instances of women or girls crying rape when that's really not the way things happened.
I agree with MtS's comment that it was the use of the phrase about trying his luck that probably did for him, though it's interesting to note that it was a split decision that was accepted by the judge. Isn't that unusual in only a 5 hour deliberation?
