I know for a fact there are a lot of Suzanne Vega fans in the South Upper.
I just had to google her, maybe we should have a 'best songwriter that our comrades may not have heard of' comp. I love learning.
an excellent suggestion. i would go for ice cube, wreckless eric, leroy hutson and horace silver.
she did get a mention so some do look past the racking and onto the cracking tunes. Gotta love 'Jolene'. Sisters of Mercy version would be a good call in a best covers comp too.Did anyone mention Dolly Parton? She may be somewhat of a joke to some but she's written some cracking tunes too.
Doesn't he make awful family comedies?
Not at all, he acts nowadays in some family films. He doesn't make them. He was responsible for some cracking tunes though:
'Once Upon A Time in the Projects' - now there's a tune.
I looooooooooooooove Minnie Ripperton.Honourable mentions too for Minnie Riperton and Candi Staton.

The guy is clearly a musical genius!!! :winking:Loved the story about the recording of 'Lovin' You' when a bird was singing on the window of the recording studio. They were going to edit it out but Stevie Wonder (the producer) said "keep the bird."
And is still regularly releasing albums in Cymraeg on her own Rainbow City label.I'm guessing that Cerys wrote a few of those Catatonia tunes? She had a country-infused album out a few years ago too.
