I wonder how many will be put off by the fact that only the east stand will be open?
We've just won our first game and plenty of new players to see, surely they should open the south upper as well?
I'm afraid this doesn't reflect very well on the clubs expectations on support.
Unbelievably short-sighted-I believe the West Stand was open for the meaningless friendlies....I'm not the only one who will not be queuing for the left-over seats in an already overcrowded East Stand.

Oh go on - you know you want to be there really. Up the Blues.

Seem to remember last year against Yeovil, they said East Stand only and then opened South Upper at last moment.

I think it's basically a case of hoping that a young, home-produced lad will develop into a quality player and be good enough to hold down a regular first-team place. Although I do think the strength of our Centre-Mids (Leonard, Timlin, Atkinson, Clifford) is always going to make it hard for Jack to become a first-teamer.

Hi people. Got my ticket for tomorrow's Cup game home to Walsall.

Really looking forward to it and thinking that we might see quite a lot of rotation, which I'm fine about as I will get to see some more of the new signings.

I'm thinking we might see a starting line-up something like this:

Smith
White Thompson Ibenfelt Coker
Worrall Atkinson Payne Weston/Shaq
Barnard Lane

What do others think? Stick with the winning team from Accrington or make changes? Who would you guys choose in your line-up?

I posted that exact team on twitter to CP and then have had a twitter row with a guy slagging off Paul Smith saying that Ted Smith should be in goal. Great prospect that he is at this stage would play Paul over Ted all day long

Personally I'd send him out on loan for 3 months to get some regular football. He's looked literally like a boy playing a mans game when I've seen him. Technically he seems good but I'm not sure he's ready yet. Maybe if he plays tomorrow Brown will use that to make a decision.

Yes, I meant Smith, P.
We must think alike then, I will take it as a compliment. I am not on Twitter.

A win against Walsall would be nice but I'm not to worried as got me ticket for Stevenage on Saturday and three points will do.....can't wait for Saturday:smile:

Just don't get the love affair with the south upper? Haven't sat there for years. Cramped seat space and poorly constructed roof. They should open the west though. The east will sell out.

Either but it's a sad state of affairs when we are not opening the whole ground for a cup tie against a team from a higher division. I'm thinking twice about going TBH and I bet a few others are as well.

Is a shame that a competitive game will be played with the air of a meaningless friendly.
I can imagine that any player making his debut - will be underwhelmed.
Still, finances are important.

Is it just me who doesn't get the Jack Payne love in?

When I have seen him play (away at Burton and away at ..... somewhere .....Morecambe?) he (Payne) ups the pace and goes straight at the opposing goal creating space and opportunities for others .........

...... but when he gives the ball away doing that, he (Payne) is surprisingly slow and struggles to get back to make a tackle.

So attacking wise - good. Defending - poor. I think this is the reason why Payne is brought on when Brown wants to go for a win.

Agreed but perhaps if the club went out of their way to let people know that the match was a tenner in and tried spreading the word in anyway they could, then they might just get a crowd in. Opening the East only just says to me "can't be bothered" well if the club can't be bothered then why should I ?

With recent tweets:-

Brown: "Jack Payne's responsibly this year is to play tomorrow and to try and stay in the team."

I think you can ink Payne's name in on the team-sheet.................unless PB is playing VERY complex mind games!

Definitly rotation, PB has already said so

P.Smith
White, Ibenfeldt, Thompson, Coker
Atkinson, Clifford, Worrall
Payne
Barnard, Weston

subs T.Smith, Prosser, Hurst, Leonard, Corr, Layne, Brown.

He came from the youth team and I believe he has been here since a young age, like Ted Smith. He won the Academy Player of the Season for the last 2 years as well as banging in goals for fun from midfield, so I wouldn't call it "love in" but more like hoping he gets game time as he sounds like a great prospect.

Will be treated as an extension of pre season. Valuable game time for those non starters. Mads, thompson will figure as will atkinson worral etc. Maybe a start for barney
