Finally brought myself a decent E cig last week and haven't had a normal fag since.

Found it a bit strange at first puffing on a fruit flavour but I'm loving it now.

Can't see me going back.

What are other people's experiences of them. Despite the being perfectly legal and harmless they are still banned in quite a lot of places which can be tricky to know what's ok and what isn't.

Got to better than tobacco though. Can really smell it on the Mrs now when she has popped out for one.

I've banned my brother in law from using his in our house. The reason for that is because there is anecdotal evidence that under 16s who have never smoked are starting to use them. They may be less harmful than cigarettes, but the nicotine in them is just as addictive, and these kids may become addicted to e-cigarettes instead. I therefore don't want my children to think I condone them, and think that they are "normal".

That said, as an aide to giving up smoking I think they are fantastic. If smokers can get their nicotine fix without all the other harmful poisons then that is fantastic.

I don't get your point but nicotine on its own is no worse than a good few coffees each day

Nicotine is a highly addictive substance. According to the NHS nicotine is more addictive than heroin. According to ASH nicotine is more addictive than cocaine too. I don't want my children to think that it is normal to be addicted to nicotine.

If you think there's no difference between nicotine and caffeine perhaps you should read this:

Livestrong.com

...nicotine is a poison capable of causing death in relatively low doses...

When used in moderation, caffeine does not generally cause serious health risks.

Nicotine is not dangerous is small doses even less so when it isn't combined with tobacco.

And e cigs don't even have to have any nicotine in them.
