Women's World Cup 2015

If we'd played that positively from the start we would probably have lost as Norway are a better, more established team than us (see their group stage draw v Germany which they arguably should have won). Instead we frustrated them and stopped them from playing, then used our more creative players later and got the win. Spot on I say.

Well done to the English ladies ,like Australia 1st win in the knockout stages, But English women have an easier qtr final than the Aussie , they really should defeat Canada.Aussies either got the World Champions or the Netherlands.

GB lost 2-0 to them at the Olympics, and they're the hosts. It's going to be a tough challenge. Although Canada do seem to be finding the expectations of being hosts difficult. After winning our first ever knockout game, anything else is a bonus.

Why ! because in all seriousness your girls should be more experienced ,with no high expectations on their shoulders, Canada have a whole country on theirs, your girls should be able to just go out and enjoy there game and be free moving .they all play in a highly competitive league for in most cases big clubs ,so should be used to the pressure. And for what ive seen of Canada ,scoring is not their strongest point.

Is the Women's Super League that good? I've never watched it but I'd guess as it's only existed for 2 or 3 years in its current form it is well behind the USA's league (where I guess a lot of Canadians play).

England playing/time wasting like Wycombe! Canadian sub is so fit!

At last, an England team in a world cup semi final. Well done ladies for showing the boys the way. Bring on the Japanese next game.

God this could get embarrassing for the lads - "yeah, yeah, we're gonna win it this year, Garry, I know it, I can feel it in my bones, man" and the ladies come along - "well we've never reached a quarter final so if we can do that, we'll be happy, anything else is a bonus" and they're the best England side in 25 years!

Thought it was a great game to watch. Nervy, generally poor, but still engrossing and a great result for England.

As I predicted ,Enggland to beat Canada, and the world champions Japan completely outclassed Australia.i think Japan will defeat England 2-0,and the USA v Germany game could go to penalties. But isnt it refreshing to see them play to the whistle without complaining when decision goes against them, and the lack off diving in the penalty box.Saying that some of the referees havent been to crash hot .lol

Great result, great passion - tears of joy for reaching the semis, whereas the men generally look non-plussed when they go out at the QF stage (again). Cracking finish by Jodie Taylor, and for me Bronze has been out best player of the tournament. Japan will be very tough but anything can happen!

I quite like the campaign to call them the England national team, and the men get lumped with the 'England Men's National Team'

So I'm the only one that thought Aus/Jap was dull as ditchwater? Considering there were nly nine shots, three on target and one goal.

Is it me, or do the goal keepers in this women's world cup lack a bit of consistency? I would have been seriously brassed off with Bentley had he conceded England's second goal, and Canada's chance on goal left a lot to be desired from the England keeper. Get a grip ladies, literally.

It's a very different game to watch, sometimes really skillful and sometimes running about like fairies. They bump into each other the way only women can.

That said, the game is played in a fair manner, no diving in the penalty area etc, good honest football. The Japanese seem the most talented from what I've seen but the game last night between them and Australia was a tad boring

On a side note, I've watched quite a few games and two thing I have noticed. One, the refereeing is consistently good and two, hardly any offsides in the games I have watched

Japan and Australia was dull ,but only because they no each others game so well , but you have to admire the Japanese side for their overall skill etc ,and some of their attacking moves are brilliant, they are so disciplined both in defence and attack and play for each other ,no egoes.

So brilliantly patronising I've taken to reading it in a Partridge voice.

Maybe its me and its not to stir up trouble, but looking at the Womens world cup games, was like watching a JPT game

Nothing really too exciting, early games had high scores against limited opposition, but really if this is high standard for womens football, it has along way to go
Can only be good for English womens football and it's great to cheer on England, but really World Cup fever hmmm not too sure

I think the problem is that most of the ladies are semi-pro footballers, it takes hours of training a day to iron out stupid mistakes completely which a semi pro can't devote because they have a day job. Until female goalkeepers earn a professional wage we're going to keep seeing schoolboy errors and soft goals.
