Pepe Mel now sacked by Betis with them 15th in the league.

Gary Neville still without a league win at Valencia, and Atletico showing signs of their 2013/14 selves.

Meanwhile Espanyol have got their return game against Barça in the Copa Del Rei on Wednesday night.

Think I'll go because there should be a cracking atmosphere.

Not that I expect Espanyol to pull back a 3 goal deficit.:'(

Funny old game, Saint.

Mel had been fantastic for almost a year. When he rejoined in autumn 2014, the wheels on our promotion bandwagon were looking a little wobbly. He took over, comfortably won Segunda and then had a really decent start to life in Primera. But over the last months something has been really wrong and he clearly doesn't fancy putting in what is required to turn it around. A shame as he remains a club legend.

Went to my first la liga match yesterday, Seville v Malaga. Good game with seville winning 2-1 and 2 sending offs. The stadium was magnificent although with only one covered side would be no good in England.

Never been to their ground.Seville must be a bit parky at this time of year.

In the Malaga area over HT and just seen that Malaga are due to play Madrid on the day I fly home (Sunday 21st!) which is rather annoying but not 100% confirmed yet!

The schedule for that weekend hasn't been announced yet, as they don't announce which time or day games will kick off until a few weeks before. They announced the weekend of the 14th this week so will probably announce it some time in the next week or so! Most likely is Saturday afternoon/evening or Sunday, Madrid and Barcelona are rarely given the Friday/Monday night games.

Espanyol still without a win since 19th December after Villarreal's late equaliser, poor Barna! Got my ticket sorted so will be at the next home game for them against Real Sociedad, doubt they'll get much joy against Real Madrid before that though.

Following that hat up with Barcelona vs Celta Vigo on the 14th.

Barcelona vs Valencia and Sevilla vs Celta Vigo in the Copa deal Rey semis, a very tasty looking draw.

Was at Espanyol's 5-0 home defeat to Real Sociedad last night. Absolutely dismal display, and made even worse when you consider that Real Sociedad hadn't won away from home all season before the game. Galca's days must be numbered.

I was there too.(Left after 60 minutes when they were already 0-4 down). There's a board meeting today apparently, (new Chinese owner present via video conference link up) and as you say Galca could well be sacked.Espanyol's record under him is woeful with only one win and two draws plus 7 defeats.:'(

(PM me If you plan to go to another game).

ps Didn't see your previous post (493) on this thread until now.

You certainly weren't the only one! Given the attendance of 14,500, I'd be surprised if there were 7,000 left at the final whistle. Not that that meant the booing was quiet.

Will do, thanks!

This weekend's clash will be interesting, 2 teams in Espanyol and Valencia who you just can't see winning a game.

Yeah I'd expect the losing manager to get the sack.So could it be a draw?
