A few extracts from Simon Cox's Echo column.

'Last weekend also saw the return of Nile Ranger but he has to keep on working hard to get the lads back on side.

While he’s been away we’ve had a tough pre-season and have been training hard so he needs to be doing more than us because he’s behind our fitness levels.

We are all going to be on at him whether he likes it or not, especially about his punctuality.'

There you go Nile. Who loves ya baby?

I love the 'he needs to be doing more' part. He came on for 40 minutes after no pre-season and looked more lively than any other forward so far regardless of what his fitness levels are! Please sort it out!

I read it more as meaning that the players are attempting a bit of tough love. As I've said before, somebody who has followed Ranger's path may be more receptive by expectations laid out by his peers for acceptance than to directives from authority. Besides, I don't know how anybody in football could look at Nile's talent level and the fact that in his mid-twenties he's playing in the third tier and feel anything other than the desire to give him the kick up the arse not to let his career pass him by.

No problem getting back home from Southend after a home game but panic when he has to get back from Charlton.

I notice the part where Brown says Ranger tells him he's a changed man but Brown says he's taking that with a pinch of salt. Nice to see the boss showing confidence in his players :hilarious:

Brown would be a moron to have confidence and trust in Ranger. Its down to Ranger to earn both over time. Does anyone have any confidence we will make it to the end of the season without more drama?

Cox's comments are very telling, he clearly has to earn the same with them.

My point being that putting that statement in the public domain isn't going to do Ranger any favours. By all means tell him in private so he knows but to let those thought out for everyone to hear is churlish. Just my opinion of course

Well said ,we should all keep our thoughts 2 ourselves ,& hope & pray he wants a future
