I can remember playing for southend manor and great wakering some 23 years ago and they’d bring around 250-300 fans for away games, horrible lot also, you’d take a throw in and they would spit at you, think they were ground sharing with collier row and Hornchurch at the time.

Thought you were referring to earlier years leading into Southern League days and the late 70's before they folded. Pretty good strong following at those numbers tho' not what I'd regard as massive (as when they were playing at Brooklands).

Romford at present are bottom of Ryman North, they would have relegated last year but for league restructuring. It was rumoured they were the only team in the league last season not paying wages, probably £50-£100 being the average although a few teams pay more up to £300 a week for some players, will Tamplin being involved top this, or more to the point how long before he bails out? Romfords now small fan base must be happy and who can blame them.
