Southend sign keeper James Montgomery on loan

Does signing a non-league keeper enable us to play Seaden and have Montgomery on the bench? Or have we really signed a non-league keeper to start?!

Just to be a pedant and add another question into the fray... Does the emergency loan provision that keepers signed on emergency loan have to start apply to loans from EFL clubs only?

Well we’ve signed him on an emergency loan so we have to. The alternative was taking the risk of no keeper on the bench.

I would be extremely hacked off if I was Seadon, and we have a keeper we can put on the bench (albeit a youngster)

And most people would be extremely hacked off if Seadon got injured and we had to put a 16 year old in goal against one of the best teams in the division in the middle of a relegation battle.

It’s harsh on Seadon, especially when he did well on Saturday and it’s a Non-League keeper coming in but it’s not the clubs fault how the rules work, and we aren’t in a position to be taking risks.

But what are the chances of Seadon getting injured during a game; I would expect they are extremely low

Before he signed, we had no viable alternative.
In my mind's eye, Seadon got injured, and the likes of Dieng and Hobson played between the sticks second half.
