Post-Match Thread and Ratings Dagenham & Redbridge 3-0 Southend United

There will be some decent young players who were let go of squads higher up we can schnaffle and some decent players from non league that won't cost us the earth. Won't take much to improve what we have

Can’t say I agree with Maher that our players worked their socks off… they didn’t.

This team has far too many passengers, who haven’t offered anything since they joined. Dunne, Ogogo, Hobson, Ferguson at times… along with the ever injured Coulson, and there may be more that I’m forgetting due to not seeing them on the pitch very often.

Add those to players that are just not ready or never will be ready for this level, in Seaden, Howard, Sayers. Not fair to criticise those as they shouldn’t be anywhere near the team.

Murphy and Dalby are going through a horrid spell, with the former getting lazier every week. I heard he was carrying a knock, but if that’s the case, surely one of the other strikers would be a better option - regardless of ability.

Maher and co have a huge job on their hands to sort this out, and we knew that. They need to be backed to bring some fresh blood into this terrible team, and fast. With every defeat our confidence is sinking lower and lower… some new life is needed to change that. It’s an impossible task to stop this current team from losing - they’ve already lost.

If I was Ron, Tom or whoever is signing things off at the moment. I would be sorting Stan’s contract, along with the new head of recruitment out within the next few hours as it’s clear this is what’s needed. Without a few spot on signings, this team isn’t getting out of that drop zone.

Can we please get over all the hype and unrealistic over expectation with the Stan Collymore situation and focus on the reallity. The threat of a third successive relegation is vety real and it is quite clear the current squad is not good enough to survive in this league. Despite all the blather about being able to choose a new management team from the very best available nationwide, blah blah blah, we have ended up with a predictable choice, all three of whom were in the frame from previous managerial vacancies. Apart from the job titles, this could have been the outcome when Bond was sacked. It's going to take a miracle now and the extent of the task is only underlined by the inordinate, disproportionate faith invested in an ex player turned pundit with no track record as a manager, coach or any other position. I wish the new coaching team well but they need to be able to get on with the job without unnecessary distractions, identify suitable transfer targets and do their best to try to eke out a survival strategy, forgetting about grandiose structural pretensions, a new stadium and the rest of it.

Special mention for Mark Molesley who has not had the new manager bounce back effect and Phil Brown who assembled possibly the worst set of players in the history of the club….neither should ever manage again!

Did Ron appoint a fans favourite or 3 very well equipped coaches to lead us forward via a stringent process.

It's not the same as belling PB in India and asking if he wants the job.

This is PBs total **** side and we have to work with it for now. This management team will be right for us, but we must give them a decent amount of time.
Rose coloured glasses as usual. What was your take on CP or Rio appointment perhaps you can remind us?

Honestly, I just cant believe the mentality of a large number of our 'fans'. Jesus...
They weren't much better when we went a goal down. Swearing at the players. No wonder the players heads drop after going a goal down and we concede many more. Agreed we need to get rid of Ron/some players and change the culture of the club as it's toxic but the fans have to change as well. Some of language used today and in previous games is hardly supporting our team. No wonder the club is toxic.

We should forget everything about Stan Collymore. Where has he been the last 2 seasons we have been struggling. Why wait until now to try a come and be the Messiah?
Thought there would have been some new Manager effect from the team. Just shows how far off we are.

This is the most realistic post I have seen for some time.

I'm amazed that it hasn't taken Maher & Co 3 days to turn around a team that has been horrendous for 3 seasons, suffered back to back relegations, with a squad of players totally lacking in any confidence after having a manager play the "throw them under the bus" every week routine.
Totally agree. He's had no time to assess these players and work on their confidence for a game against one of the better teams in the league.

He now has more than a week on the training ground with them to play Dover at home.

It will take time to assess this squad and pick the current best 11.

Get behind the coaching team and these confidence shot players.

I think I would prefer to wait before passing jundgement of this new start.

Let's wait and see how results start to pan out when we have Stan on-board and this decent recruitment specialist.

We are where we are because Ron put trust in Brown and Duncan to recruit some quality and we can all see how that has worked out!!

We have time still and I am confident that changes to playing staff will be made and we will turn the tide.

The problem is the same as it has been for a few years, we have no creativity, we won't outscore teams because we don't create the chances so they know they can pile on the pressure.

What we need is a player or some players that get you on the edge of your seat, someone who gives you a sense that something could happen.

I actually think we have a couple on our books for this level in ANG and Aki, possibly Kinali as well. We have too many old disrupters in midfield who can't pick out a pass

How about Sam Barratt... he's scored again tonight. Which club let him go? I'll bet they are feeling sick after his 15 goals last season. Who was it now......?

1. A pundit who got you a CEO which you didn't have for 5 years. The alternative if Tom wasn't there? I dread to think.

2. A pundit who has a recruitment head ready who's knows every player in the nation( six hundred Conference players watched, analysed and picked out to fit what we need, now, today) who can be extricated from their clubs to bring in quality. He walked into Grimsby in pre season, the oldest squad in the division and brought 8 recommended in. They are TOP of the league.

3. A pundit who's managed to persuade the owner to take a back seat in order to not inflame a tense situation. Likewise a supporter base ready to turn at any moment.

4. A pundit who can speak to anyone in this sport within 30 minutes and who's built relationships with clubs over years, many of whom have already committed to helping us as and when.

5. A coaching trio who we had to sell the club vision to, none of whom were in a hurry to leave their clubs without hearing from a football man that a structure would be in place.

6. A pundit who's had 300 emails from scouts, managers, recruitment specialists, players all wanting to get involved.

7. A pundit who's been to 50 clubs at home and abroad learning and understanding how clubs are run, their structures , things they've done well and not. Invited in by all. There is nobody in English football who's been into more clubs to learn about structure more than I. No one. Ask around the industry!!!

8. A pundit who has only ever offered 3 clubs help and delivered for each. Delivered. I have zero interest getting **** from random fans of clubs I have no connection to, it's hard enough getting **** from those you do!

9. A pundit who's given you more clarity and information as to what the stench is at Southend, relaying that to the owner so that there's a fighting chance of getting rid of the chancers, schemers and malintents at the club. Without identifying them it's not relegation you'd have to worry about, it's bankruptcy.

19. A pundit who's had "yes, we'll help" from every club he's contacted rather than the "Southend? Hahaha" that is the image your club has inflicted on itself with toxic chancers who've walked through the door.

If I were you I'd have a long hard look at yourself and find out where I've suggested I'm a messiah or where I've strolled in acting like one .

I've offered real time help to turn a situation around that is one of the most embarrassing and reckless declines I've seen in football for decades. A lesson in self destruction, poor planning, woeful hires, zero structure and a reckless disregard for honesty and integrity.

I didn't cause this, I walked out of Roots Hall leaving you with £3.5 million from A £150k outlay within 6 months . I don't come with the stench of failure that has been so readily accepted at the club. Nor will I, I've never been involved with any club that's been relegated at any level and I won't start now.

This morning, my Mom, in a care home fell and smashed her face in. I came to Dagenham instead of going to the Midlands to see her. She's in hospital and I'm driving back now, then back south to continue to work on solutions for you to moan and cry about. When my Sister died of cancer while I was at Southend, I was given unlimited time off. I took not one day off because I wanted to do my job properly. So I'd ease off on questioning my character or ability or professionalism.

Be careful what you wish for, dumping on people offering help isn't acceptable.

Because qualified people at the club have served you so well, haven't they?

Have some damn respect.

Stanley Victor Collymore.

Stan that is just a troll and they should be ignored. The majority of us fully appreciate all the efforts you have put in this year
